You seem to like that pen!  I believe it shows up on this thread pretty regularly. ;)

I do like it, and yes, it is frequently used.

There are five inked pens on my desk.  Two are Onotos and three are Conway Stewarts.  They and the Gravitas pen that I EDC are the pens I use almost all of the time.  With that, they appear here on a regular basis.

I would guess probably a Fine point by MB standards but of course there are variances from nib to nib in factory grinds.

you have a better eye for sales than me, what do you think of pensachi's current easter sale?

Frankly, it is not worthy of my attention.

The last time I placed an order with PenSachi, it was during a promotion in which you'd get 7% off a Pilot (and, if I'm not mistaken, Sailor was also an eligible brand) pen with the application of a discount code, but 15% off (automatically applied without the use of a code,

Once again, now.

p.s. And now I see that I still can't use the free shipping ‘reward’ that was redeemed using points. PenSachi's whole loyalty rewards programme is worthless ink crud, then, when none of the benefits can be used buying whatever is on offer on special promotion.

Today I'm using a Jinhao x450, EF nib, with Noodlers Red Black. The pen is a little heavy but writes smoothly. I was able to repair the loose cap after viewing an online tutorial and found a Jinhao branded EF nib from a seller in China. It's now one of my favorite pens.

Today, it was the turn of this eeny-meeny teeny-tiny white Diplomat Butterfly. It doesn't hold a whole lot of ink (using a Sailor Chalana converter, which fits perfectly) but it's fun to write with a doll's pen every now and then 😁

I used the equally skinny Kaweco Special that lives on my bedside table to write a reminder note just a few hours ago.  Today's pen choice though is my Onoto Scholar.

That sounds like a pretty big size difference - those Scholars are not small pens, correct?

But I think you have to think even smaller for the Butterfly! It is truly ultra-slim. I had to look up the Special, but if it's the thin hexagonal model I found, it's still quite a bit bigger than this one. The Butterfly is skinnier than the thin Travellers, as you can see next to a flame one below, and it is too thin for a standard cartridge or converter. I don't know if it's the same size as the Sailor Chalana, but it must be awfully close if the tiny converters fit. Anyway, it is as they say, smol. :)

@Vintage_BEYes! The Pelican school pens are fantastic, they have a more ball-shaped tip so are more tolerant of a variety of angles. In the Pelikano Junior pens this feature is even more pronounced.  Lamy makes a "K" for Kugel nib that is similar.

We keep a Pelikano Junior pen that I've converted to an eye-dropper on the kitchen table and use it daily for the crossword, lists, etc.

We have Lamy Safari’s on our kitchen table. The Pelikano’s are no longer made so I am a bit protective of the one that survived 😄

That's how I ended up with some Esties! But instead of them having been mine, they had been hers.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
