The short version Tomoe River paper will still be made but by another paper company.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I enjoyed this explanation.

Will be interesting to see if any changes. I am not a fan, to be honest. Beautiful writing sheet but cannot handle the show through with the thinness of the paper. I hope for the devotees nothing changes.

Things will undoubtedly change. Look at the difference changing from one machine to another within the same company made. The new new Tomoe River (or Sanzen Tomoe River, if you will) will be different, especially given the fact that Sanzen bought the rights and some inventory, but no machinery is changing hands. So I don't expect the paper to be the same, but I do wonder if the quality will be on par with the old stuff.
