Colorverse has not responded to an inquiry on their website, nor on a message on Instagram. I’m a little bit surprised at the lack of response.

Wow. That is a little surprising. And they don't make it easy to contact them through their website, either.

That's rubbish customer service, and makes me think less of them. Not that my opinion was terribly high in the first place...

On the topic of monitor calibration: I have found that working through the lagom LCD test calibration makes a very significant difference, although I'm sure the true calibration tools are even more accurate.

  • 2 weeks later...

This was most likely one of the following scenarios: a mislabeled bottle, a contaminated bottle, or something may have gone wrong with that batch/bottle either in the mixing process or in transport or storage.  None of the samples I’ve seen online of thus ink lean green/cyan.  It’s possible Colorverse will not respond, as sometimes replying to such a query means admitting possible fault.  Not saying it’s right, but I’ve had this happen with other brands too.  For example when I wrote to Diamine about their Eclipse ink, they never responded (there was no fault with Diamine, but they ignored my query about my ink color being not as expected, with photographs.)

“I admit it, I'm surprised that fountain pens are a hobby. ... it's a bit like stumbling into a fork convention - when you've used a fork all your life.”

It's been such a busy month, but, I have news!

So, the day I posted my last comment (Sept 28) Colorverse contacted me. They said that they were not able to provide an explanation as to why my bottle was so off, but they did offer to send me out a replacement.

That arrived from Korea last week. :)

I made a video of the two swatches side by side.

Thank you everyone for your helpful input. I don't think it's worth thinking less of Colorverse for their delay in response. Chuseok was late last month and seems to be a big holiday in Korea. Plus, you know, worldwide health crisis.

I have a feeling that had I have gone through Luxury Brand's customer service I might have had a quicker response, and who really is the most appropriate to contact about that anyway? The distributor or the manufacturer?

And as an interesting side note-

The new bottle they sent has a different color on the box than my original. The labels on the bottles look the same. But the boxes are different.

Sorry, I set it to go live this morning. I thought I could still share the link with you all despite it not being public yet.  It should be good now.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
