The 58C is a very popular model from the Airmail Pen Company. You can read about it here.

The 58C CARTRIDGE is a new stock model with a two in one filling. If takes short as well as long international cartridges. You can directly fill ink in the barrel in eye dropper mode as well. The K5 K7 converters with me would not enter the barrel. If you have narrower converters probably a converter will fit too.

the stock F nib is pretty smooth. There is no nib unit as such. The nib and feed appear friction fit in the section. The end of the section has insitu moulded cartridge nipple etc. This allows the pen to be very economically priced and eliminates burps etc. A long term use will reveal how effective the feed really is.

that’s a pelikan Gtp/5 cartridge. Fits perfectly. A short blue ink cartridge comes with the pen.

Compared to the ED only 58C. You can notice the cartridge version has a longer section.

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. I have learned so much about Airmail from your posts. I am very curious as to which model among all of these constitute your top 3?

Thank you cvk. Airmail makes a huge variety of models and I am glad I could shed some light on them. Really glad you found them useful. I don’t have a top three.

The 58C Cartridge has friction fit nib and feed. They pull out easily. The stock nib is 26mm long and 7mm across. Indian no 5. An Indian no 5.5 will also fit. The stock nib is identical to the FH341 nib and is a direct swap.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
