Daiso faux-ble notebook

Recommended Posts

My absolute favourites are these old Daiso notebooks that look like faux Life Noble notebooks. They easily beat some expensive brands that claim to have luxury, fountain-pen friendly paper. I also find that brands sometimes make cream paper to seem more fancy, but rarely live up to expectations. These $2 SGD notebooks on the other hand.... /chefs kiss.

So are these still available at Daiso? (I ask because you used the word "old")? I'm not finding them in their online USA site.

I'm afraid I don't know. I bought these from a brick and mortar store in Singapore a long time ago and now live in Thailand where Daiso here does not carry many paper products. They were around for a few years when I first got them but I can't tell if they're a staple anymore.

The colours of the covers are not as shown in @psycrybe's photo, but the notebooks with fountain pen friendly paper in that format are still available from Daiso here in Sydney, Australia. Now, I understand that while Daiso in Australia does not take online orders at all, while they do take orders for some items in its range on its US-facing web site for delivery to US addresses, but it doesn't list every item you could get in store (from time to time). Buying from Daiso is pretty much a matter of getting to the particular store and trying your luck on the given day, and not like dealing with Amazon or some other online retailer; there is no, “if you have it, then you should offer it for online orders to customers everywhere in the country far and wide.” (Same goes for Muji.)

Is there a Daiso store in the San Francisco area you can check out?

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct for valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

The Bay Area has so many Daiso stores nowadays. The B7 lined pad has a navy blue cover. Sometimes I write down something for reference, and cut it down to Filofax pocket height and punch it.

We used to have a Muji store, but it went away.

The Daiso notebooks are very good quality and value. They are inexpensive enough to buy and try. I thought they were more Apica style but doesn't matter - try them.

@Ruaidhri This was an absolutely wonderful bit of writing, and I hope that you're able to maintain the style once all of the medications are out of your system.  Take care and recover quickly!

These comments make me sad as I sympathise with Ruaidhri, having great difficulties in being taken seriously. Or being taken at all (no off-colors jokes, please!) In spite of overwhelming odds,  Ruaidhri -now I know how to spell it- made a courageous decision and stuck to it. I was diagnosed with a similar growth in a place I will not reveal. Oh, well, if you insist it was Mount Sinai Hospital. But I firmly intend to walk in Ruaidhri's footsteps, if he will let me, on my next visit to Dublin.

Reminds me of the day my associates and I developed a cure for all mankind's ills and mistakenly wrote it down with invisible ink.

Was that the end of the Laboratory? Somehow the exactitude created a fully destructive device, as always!
