Hi, just thought I would swing by and introduce myself. My name is Fiona and I am the wrong side of 45. I have 4 kids and 6 grandkids, 1 husband and 1 dog. I am looking to expand my knowledge of all things fountain pen and make some new friends along the way.

Hi Fi 73 Welcome indeed.

 

I am versofolio, (Latin approx...the turned leaf/page ?!) and my little 'avatar' friend here is an etching of, "Fantails",

tiny, native New Zealand birds that I have to swat like 'midges?' because they are so friendly! 

 

I suppose I'm about as far away from your part of the world as it's possible to be on the same planet. 🙃

Yet here we are!

Welcome to FPN, Fiona, and greetings from California, USA where it's not fun being awake at this hour (FPN helps to mitigate that). You will meet many interesting people here, many of whom really know their stuff when it comes to fountain pens.  With regards to being on the wrong side of 45, 55, 65, etc., it's not that bad when you consider the alternative.

Hello everyone! Thank you for such a lovely welcome. This is such a wonderful place, full of more fountain pen information than I could have ever imagined! Hello FIona! Hey, I don't think there's a wrong side on age, you lived this far and the road keeps going.

Feel proud about keeping up this far, hope we can walk together with our favorite pens. Got one already? Just be careful on this rabbit hole 😄 oberbuying inks is a thing.

Always looking for new ways to downsize my collection.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
