Has anyone here ever used a Magna Carta Ti nib? How was your experience, if you've used one?

Bumping the thread, has no one used these? Seems like someone would have, Ti nibs with ebonite feeds for Rs 2k

I'm actually looking to buy one for a Ranga order, so I'll follow back up when I get it!

edit: It looks like they source from Bock, so it might be stock Bock nibs with MC's proprietary touch to it:

No, they've got instagram photos of their nibs being manufactured ( they've shifted to in-house nibs), and it seems it's an Indian company doing the manufacturing. Besides, these cost half the price of the Bock nibs. It's an ebonite feed and nib unit, so please let us know your experiences. Somebody was saying that the nib is wider at the shoulders than the stock Jowo 6, so I hope you've accounted for that.

I've officially received my Magna Carta nib. It's going to disappoint you.

It is quite poor. I've contacted customer service to see if I can get a replacement, and am waiting to hear back from them. Given that they're in India and I'm in the US, I'd settle for a full refund instead of a replacement because:

  1. The tipping they applied has very clearly eaten through part of the nib itself.
  2. There is a crack running through the bottom adhesion point of the tipping to the tine. Should I perform any grinding on this nib, my guess is the crack would only worsen and continue to affect any performance gained.

That's ink you're seeing on the top-side.

I will say, *it does write,* but it does not write well and the feedback is akin to writing with an icepick.

Sigh. Kanwrite also released some Ti nibs, and my experiences with them(Kanwrite) have been good, guess I'll buy from them.

Is there a particular seller you go through? I'm going to try to get this refunded, so I'm in the market again 🥴

Not really, I've contacted Kanwrite directly through the email address on their website. You could buy from The Penworld though.

I have some difference in opinion from user perspective.  Having tried these nibs for quite some time I believe that both Magana Carta (MC) and Kanwrite TI nibs are good quality and Durable TI nibs and writes very well. MC nibs are larger. The issue is that both of these nibs use different grade of Titanium which is of higher strength than Bock. Bock nibs are much more flexible.  However, I am sure KW and MC nibs will last very long. From Price point of view one Bock nib will buy you 3 MC and  4 KW nibs. MC Nibs comes with Ebonite feeds.

Thanks for this.  I'll stick with Bock

No.

Kanwrite have separate soft/flex Ti nibs with cutouts and elongated nib-slits, and I didn't see him using those in the pictures.

I recently tried magna carta Ti nib in fine point on my gama jumbo in clear acrylic. I tried screwing it into my ranga 4c and it got stuck and then I had to break the housing and take the nib and the feed alone.

My experience was that of a moderate one. I can't say it was a great fine size nib. It had to be worked on. The feed was very good. The nib was dry and I had to improve the wetness to some extent and then also flossed the tines and it improved the flow. But still not a great nib in some sense. With some smoothening out will work according to my taste. Also the springiness was really g ood and considerible line variation could be achieved. It had some feedback

As a further update to my previous review: I did extensive reshaping and grinding on the nib. I ended up getting a full refund for it, so there was no concern of making it write any worse than it already did. Despite the initial condition it was sent in, I got it writing very well as a semi-architect grind. It took approximately 3 hours of refining to make happen and the cold joint/crack from the above pictures is still present in the nib tipping.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
