I have a Deccan Author; I think Woodex #33 model is similar to Deccan Author from pictures.

Yes I thought so too. The original authors were quite short however.

What is the difference between #5 and #5.5 nib?

Will KW #5.5 nib fit on the 4.75mm feeder?

I wanted  to get a Deccan Advocate and Advocate Junior; now I will go for these models (4 and 15)..

Minor 1-1.5mm diff in length and same diff across shoulders. The stock nib on the 15 is from ambitious and you won’t need to replace it. Sometimes a KW 5.5 might be a tight fit due to thicker sheet etc. you will have to try. The model 6 is similar to 15 without white dot on cap. HTH

Thanks..

Ya, I have liked the ambitious fine nibs in their pens.

Also, I have felt that Ambitious fine is finer than KW fine nibs.

Ambitious is very good. I have used their nibs for a good part of my writing. Flair pens used to have Ambitious nibs with the A logo hidden in the part inside section. Even Prasad and Guider I have seen old nibs with the hidden A logo.

Are they still in production?

I don’t know. But their pen sets were very popular. All with fixed squeeze fillers.

Model 4 Colors:

These are some model 4 patterns and colors. Except the matte green, rest were all purchased last year. Availability and patterns could have changed in the interim.

Received my Woodex pens - Model 4 and Model 39 today.

Thanks to Hari and everyone else for sharing details about them. Hope it's alright to share the pics here instead of creating a new thread.

The pen comes in a simple cardboard box.

L -> R Model 4, Model 39

large.2.jpg.6b989ee1f6a368cc8199d13b22d2e9d2.jpg

Compared to Gama Supreme

large.3.jpg.1c62c6da8188701ca890ac60696b7ec1.jpg

Uncapped Pic. Notice how Model 39 has a bigger cap than Gama Supreme, but the pen itself is smaller than it.

large.4.jpg.22dd734e20890dedaad75e98612c1a4d.jpg

Model 4 has a plain Kanwrite fine nib, Model 39 has a designed Kanwrite Medium one.

large.5.jpg.4b4526541f4aa37c221a4a5704fcbaed.jpg

The feeds are different too accordingly

large.6.jpg.d69d142fa41ca74818e56396b70f85b0.jpg

I noticed that though the barrel of Model 39 is smaller than Supreme, it appears slightly thicker to me.

large.7.jpg.72a374e3ca30ae41692356f2e51107d2.jpg

The threading at the barrel, and the inner cap seems better in the Model 39 compared to Model 4. The Model 39 cap too seems thicker than the Gama Supreme.

large.8.jpg.1c26ae410216e015f122859bb33bc750.jpg

And as the Model 39 is a costlier pen than Model 4, the finishing too seems to be better. You can easily notice it when you open the caps. Model 39 opens very smoothly compared to Model 4, and it opens in 2 and half turns compared to the 3 and half turns on model 4.

Have yet to ink the pens. If you want to know anything else regarding the pen, please let me know.

Overall, am very happy with both the pens. These are my first Woodex pens but they seem to be very well-built and I like them.

Thank you so much for sharing the images and comparison. Your model 4 is different. It has no cap band and no ball clip, was it a custom request?

I was somewhat expecting the model 39 to be smaller than a Deccan masterpiece/ Gama supreme. Thanks for confirming that. The no 39 had the same feeder as my Deccan masterpiece. It’s a nice feeder.

Thank you Hari. When I placed the order, Mr. Narsimha himself asked me what type of clip I want. He shared the below pic with me. I liked the simple clip better, so went with it.

The Game Supreme feels slightly heavier to me, so I think the Model 39 should work perfectly for me.

Can you please share any further details about the feeder on Model 39. I thought it was a default Kanwrite feed.

Thanks for sharing. Coincidentally I had requested a cap ring less model 4 but was told it’s not possible. 😊

Anyway. The feeder used by ke is shown rightmost in the first pic of the following thread:https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/361066-finned-feeders-for-indian-eye-dropper-filled-pens/

I have a good picture of the feeder used on your model 39 posted somewhere on fpn. I tried hard to locate it but failed. It’s a well made feeder with a few buffering fins on the shaft.

Oh. After  sharing the picture of the cap, he even asked me if I want it with ring or without ring. Hope they have started to offer both choices from now on.

Thank you for taking your time. I have seen this feed for first time, that's why was little curious about it. Glad to know it's better than the default ebonite feed. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing this. Didn't know these two models were so similar.

Also shared some of your pics/files on the fountain pen India FB group while giving you the credit for them. Many people showed their interest in these pens. Thank you for all the info.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
