Odd...I can only see the purple and pink hues on the zoom in.
Beautiful ink though, definitely picking up a second bottle AFTER I get my first bottle of "Milky Ocean"...lol.

Really nice one  @Detman101

I can see why you are really into these light blues..... :)

Thank you! Specifically "Chromo-shading" inks have my heart right now.
One day I'll go back to straight single-dye inks...but not anytime soon!
😛

I knew you'd like it - but these are horrendous to capture with scans or photos.

And I have faith, you will find that bottle of Milky Ocean somewhere!

Oh! What a nice-looking light-blue! I most definitely need to take a look at these Sailor Manyo inks.

You do! I think some of them would appeal to you very much. And they're easy to get in Europe, which is a bonus.

Thanks for another flexy review!  You're creating quite the catalog for flex-users. :)  The blue's a bit pale for my liking, but I still enjoyed the review.

Thanks for the review.  My bottle of Nadeshiko is more of a periwinkle color on most papers, resembling Pilot Irosh. Aji-sai ink.

I would agree, it's such a perfect middle ground between blue and purple...just awesome! :)

Hehe, I hope to get all of the inks I have cataloged here eventually. Even the ones that are too wet for my flex pen.

That's the funny thing, on Rhodia and Clairefontaine papers it comes out closer to "Kon Peki" blue with that lovely lavender shading.
On my "Exceed" journal it comes out as pure periwinkle with no lavender shading...instead the lavender and blue are mixed as it goes down on the paper.
On Office Depot standard copy paper (rat quality) it comes out periwinkle as well since it just absorbs into the paper with no delay.
Very paper-dependent ink...I can't wait to pick up "Shirakashi" next month and see what it does!

And I succumbed to temptation 😉 Went to Catherine at Sakura today in her shop in Diest (Belgium), and got me almost the complete bunch of the Manyo I and II series. As if I don’t already have too many inks as it is 😉

Of all of the Sailor Manyo inks (and I have them all and love them all), Nadeshiko is my favorite.  It is a gorgeous color, but loves both Tomoe River and Cosmo Air Light paper with a moderately wet stub nib!  The "chromo-shading" is lovely in this ink.

The entire Sailor Manyo line has some degree of chromo-shading or nice sheening.  For those of us who love the "watercolor" look, these are great inks!

Oh well done! I'd love to able to go to Sakura - it always looks such a lovely shop. Full of so many lovely things :)

I'll be very interested to hear what you think of them.

And Catherine is a sweetheart to boot. I contacted her last week to inquire about the Taccia Jean collection inks. They carry the brand, but not that series, and she said she would special order it for me. Quite the service.

What is this money pit obsession hole I have fallen into?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
