The 71 is a family of large pens from the Airmail pen company of Mumbai, India. The pen is more or less semi streamlined with conical ends.

Nice pen, and nice pictures. I like 71JT. I have used this pen and am happy with stock fine nib, but I am sure the nib upgrade will be welcome and desired by many users.

I saw a model called 71JT-mini on penhouse.in. Seems like the length of barrel is shorter in this model compared to 71JT.

Also, a model called 69LC on penhouse.in. L must be for large. Any idea what C stands for?

I wish airmail pens were more widely available..

Hi Thanks. The 71JT-mini does seem to be a new model that I was unaware of. Thanks much for bringing it to my notice.

The model 70T is also a smaller version but it’s not a true mini 71JT as 70T’s barrel is moulded not hand turned.

The model 69LC is a very old model. It’s the solid plastic version of the 69TL. Imagine it as the non ink view window version of the 69P. I have one example purchased directly from APCO. Will share pics. I have forgotten to post its pics in the 69 family thread. Yeah

Hi, thanks for this lovely showcase of the 71J pens. If I may ask, how did you fit the threaded nibs like the Pelikan and the vintage Esterbrook nib into the pens? Do the 71J family of pens come with threads in the section that are compatible with these nibs, or did you need to cut new threads y0urself or do some other DIY modification?

Thank you. I had to cut the threads for the M200 and the Renew point units. I find the 71 family pens ideal for my spare M200 and Estie nib units.

Is the barrel of the 71J turned like that of 69T or is it moulded? There is a heft and thickness to 69T and 71JT that gives a reassuring feeling that is missing from other plastic pens (like Noodlers Charlie / Kanwrite Apex). Do we get a similar thickness in the 71J ?

71J has a marbled compression moulded barrel. It’s not lathe turned

Made my own 71JBRCCs today. Threaded these three pens for the Bock 250 nib unit.

With a Schmidt converter installed. The 71J allows you to see the converter ink level without having to remove the barrel. Very convenient.

Wonderful pics. Thanks for sharing. How do you thread these sections? Is there a special tool for that?

Thank you. If you don’t have access to a thread cutting lathe, you will need to buy the tap.

Beautiful pics sir. You made these pens?????

Thank you. Of course not! I meant made my own 71JBRCCs from these three stock Airmail 71J series pens by threading their sections for the Bock nib unit. Hope this clarifies!

Thank you. Sagar can you share a pic? I have bought some Duo but box says 71JB. Price list says 21 Duo so I am curious about actual duo.
