Bespoke Stationery

Anyone out there have any recommendations for a website or company that can create customized/personalized stationery and thank-you cards from quality paper suitable for use with fountain pens? My current stationery is a bit long in the tooth, so I'm looking to upgrade.

Much thanx for any suggestions!

@MrThoth, how'd you make out?  I have the same problem and my go-to store seems to have gone. :(

Have you gone to your local printer ?  People who do wedding cards will do stationery.  We also have a store out here named Alligator Soup that makes the thank you cards and stationery.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

The problem is not all the papers play well with fountain pens.  I've ordered some that work, but only with certain nibs, and others that must have something in their paper that makes the paper resist water-based ink!  I think I would need to find a store willing to let me try to write on their samples.

And my best local printer, where I used to get all my invitations, etc., closed about five years ago.

So, I go to the paper store here in town:

https://kellyspicers.com/

They have samples. I try out the samples and then send it to my printer.

I've also had great luck with the papers at:

https://paperworks.com/

For FP friendly papers

And this store in Santa Monica does their printing and they sell fountain pens so I'm sure they will find you the FP friendly stuff.

Thanks!  I get very particular as I like ecru bordered letter sheets with a monogram and then matching without monogram for the additional pages in my letters.  I've had some companies say they don't recommend any of their papers for fountain pens, yet the papers work fine as long as the ink isn't super-wet.  Letter sheets these days often seem under-sized relative to the ones I used to use, by William Arthur, but William Arthur is now owned by Crane.

The place in Santa Monica looks like they're used to dealing with specific requests, so I will start with them!  Their site looks promising.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
