parker Parker Folio Fountain Pen, Sold In India and Nepal only

Recently I was going through the youtube there I saw a fountain pen never heard off....the name is Parker Folio Fountain Pen. Any update regarding this pen?

It's very similar to the Aster, which is also made by Luxor, in India. The only difference seems to be the ring between barrel and section. Not sure

 

I've been thinking of buying an Aster for a long time.

 

The video is  from 2021, but I have a feeling that the Folio is an older pen, replaced by the Aster (even though you can still find the Folio in luxor.in's web site.

The manufacturing date on the package in the video is Jan 2021.

 

Can anyone explain the appeal of this pen? Why they would like to buy it? 

It seems to be Luxor’s own idea having nothing to do with Parker except for the name. The feeder looks the same as the ones used on the beta and the vector. The nib has a pronounced flare and accurately described stout by the reviewer.

I skipped all over the video, so I missed the date on the box. It's odd that they'd manufacture a pen whose design looks somewhat older than the aster.

 

As I wrote earlier, I like the Aster's appearance more than the Folio's. The ring on the folio is too reminiscent of the 80's for my taste.

 

This pen looks nothing like the Vector or Beta.

 

The nib is probably the same that's used in later models of the IM, as well as the feed.

 

The section is different from the IM and Aster, both of which have it in metal, as opposed to plastic.

 

The barrel reminds me of the Latitude.

 

Appeal? I guess Luxor has a better idea of what the market they serve likes, and taste varies widely. Also, it seems like Luxor's able to come up with their own designs, apart from the rest of the Parker house. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

If you have the IM with this flared nib( there seem to be two nib versions of the IM) you will find that the feed is the same as that on the beta or the vector or the new Parker 51 for that matter. 
 

I wish Luxor could bring the 45 back to life. They had its BP version under a different name in between.

Hmmm... That's quite interesting. Do you have those feeds handy for a photograph? I'd really like to see this.

 

I have both IM models (there are two versions of the IM) and I also have two Vectors. Next time they're up for a wash, I'll take a look at the feeds of the three models. I would've imagined that the feed of the IM with the narrow nib would be closer to the Vector's, since the shapes of those two nibs is similar. Who knows, maybe I'll have an Aster by then.

There is this new Parker Beta Neo which features this flared nib. It’s v cheap. Like less than two usd. If you watch from 4:20 to 4:40 you can see the nibs interchange. https://youtu.be/ua85LrxX1pA

On a lighter note, this reminds me of a simpler time when my ignorant self used to think that Parker beta was one of several models, that included beti, etc and I used to wonder why the billboards never advertised the others.
