Sailor Pro Gear Slim, Blue Green Nebula, Fine. Sailor Studio 941.

Was concerned that the feedback on this nib was perhaps a bit 'too' much, but have grown to love it.

Sailor Pro Gear Slim, Purple Cosmos B, with Sailor Taisanji Yellow.

The nib is not quite wet enough for me to want to write pages with Taisanji Yellow, but to my surprise, I can underline in a paperback book without having the ink bleed through.

You can ask me this question everyday and my answer would be Custom 845 every time.

Sure, not mentioning the other few Pilot pens I own and use on top of that :)

Everyday I use a Nakaya Piccolo Cigar, kuro-tamenuri (EF), and a Chinese pen (Moonman C2) with a Pilot #10 PO nib.

Also, a smattering of Japanese gel pens, notably Pentel EnerGel (cos I love the needle-point tip).

I received my first Pilot Pluminix yesterday - with the italic fine nib - and inked an empty Pilot cartridge with Herbin Vert Empire. I think the nib is great, especially for the price, but my hand didn't like the Pluminix grip. So I put the nib in a Pilot 78g that's been neglected because I'm not crazy about its medium nib (or any medium nib, generally). The look on the page is beautiful and I will definitely get one or two more Pluminix (plural? Pluminix? Plumini? Pluminixes?) with that nib. Unfortunately I don't have any other Pilots I can switch the nibs into.

You may already know this, but the Plumix (its name in the USA) nib fits in Metropolitans and Preras as well as 78G's.

Do you know if any other Pilot comes with the same nib as the Plumix/Pluminix F?

The models mentioned all use the same series of nibs, so, for example, an F nib on a Prera would be the same as an F nib on a Metropolitan or a 78G.

Gorgeous writing! Also such a good colour match between ink and pen!

Thank you! I returned to italic handwriting after 40 years of a semi-legible cursive scrawl. It was most appreciated by the pharmacists who had to interpret my prescriptions.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
