Pen Storage Idea

A benefit is they may fit in with a home`s normal decor.

Home decor schmome decor! Just imagine how it must feel to open a single drawer and see some 300 pens in their full glory!

OK. Seriously, this might cut it for home: https://www.stampnstorage.com/drawer-cabinet/?utm_source=pinterest&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=Pinterest

Regarding liners, I think gopens' are incredibly overpriced. Penn Industries' liners, however, are reasonably priced and I think the size is more practical as well: https://www.pennstateind.com/store/PKFXTRAY.html

Hi Alex,

Thank you for the links, these look awesome!  I think I just might use this chest instead of the one I found on Amazon!

I would have to cut down these trays to fit in the drawers, have you ever tried cutting this specific one before?

The Penn Industries liners appear to be pretty much the same size -- 12" deep, 16+" wide, and 24 slots. That means the slots must be about the same width for both trays. If you measure the Gopens tray slots from the center of each divider to the center of the next divider it comes to (just under) 3/4" but because the slots are rounded the practical effective width is more like 1/2", which is plenty for many pens, but not for modern large pens.

You are right about the price, of course, about 1/2 of Gopens price ($16 for 4 at Penn industries, $8 for 1 at Gopens). Since the gray color sold by Penn is the one I like anyway, I wish I had known about this when I bought my trays. For what it's worth to anyone, Gopens does offer 6 additional colors.

I also found these trays with 1" wide slots from etsy that might be a good option for the larger pens:

I wish I had room to store pens in this manner, so I've no idea.

They seem to be thin enough for heavy-duty scissors. A long time ago, I used an old knife heated on the stove to cut through plastic and it worked for something else, although the result will probably be cleaner with scissors or a nice sharp blade.

Wow! I'm so happy for you! Looks really good!

Are the drawers deep enough to maybe double-stack if you had to?

Enjoy your case!

Not sure if this has been suggested already but would a setting for localized regions or chapters in FPN be helpful? I don't know if there is a way to find local FPN members who would be nearby. I don't know if we want to be discoverable but a setting to know how many members are in 25, 50, or a 100 miles of each other might be helpful. We can create a regions specific network like Craigslist where people could use that to connect with nearby members, conduct in person sales, arrange FPN meetups

Hi again all, I forgot to tell y'all that I made the post about Sweden ink PIF. Most have probably found it long ago, but here's a link, anyway:

I read your blog post and all the replies with much interest. I'm a FP user in Australia. Been part of this forum for years but rarely post. I did come across your ink sharing thread and considered participation. For me it's not lack of interest but lack of time to play around with FP and inks. I'd feel bad to put my hand up for the box and just have it sit until gosh knows when...   I also think that the FP community in Australia is smaller, and I wonder how many in the community are

Even so, you'd end up with a fragmented list, and it becomes an O(N²) process for each prospective requestor to check what is available: effectively recreate the list of currently active servers (without any reliable up-to-date info upfront about the inks and number of samples on offer in the thread) from the sequential list of posts, which may be spread over two or even more pages, and then query each server independently to check what is currently on offer.   It comes down to not hav

If one wanted to do this, one could just use the "About Me" field which appears to be unlimited in size.  And if a bunch of people wanted to cooperate, the Member Title field (or signature) could be used to this end - "Ink Giver" (or some such) could be used by those with inks to give...  No software edits required.
