Stores with large selection at the higher end in Rome?

I will be in Rome later this year. Is there any particular store that will have an especially large selection at the higher end (not crazy high, just 500 euro and up) of Italian made pens?

End of the summer?  As in August?

Novelli won’t be open, among other things.   Everyone’s still at the beach.

be sure to fill up your wallet, just the tour of the four shops Fabri00 mentioned above will set you a notable amount,

not that they are extremely expensive, just that it's hard to walk out empty handed... :D

And for  anybody who stumbles across that link if you're departing EU through  CDG good luck with getting your VAT paperwork filled out.

Great City- love the place

I visit Marco at Novelli when I can- very helpful guy and the store is a delight

Highly recommended - in fact I just bought another pen from him yesterday- online and he will ship by post

Another vote for Marco and Novelli.  Tip -- if there are some particular pens of brands he carries that you are interested in, contact him ahead of time so that he can try to be sure to have them in the store during your visit.  He and his staff speak English.

Stilo Fetti gets my vote. They’re close to the Pantheon and it’s good to get a granita di caffé next door before browsing.

You can say that again. My daughter dropped by two weeks ago to pick up a pen for me, but no way.

Stilo Fetti will be closed for summer holiday from the 8 to the 28 of August.

Novelli seems also to be open looking at his web site.

Stilo&stile is for sure open, as they sent me yesterday some pens I purchased.

I guess they’re “flexible” in their opening hours. My daughter visited them at a moment when they should’ve been open.

It could be.

But they were not closed for summer holiday: shops hang a sign outside the shop with closing and re-opening dates normally when they close for holiday.

And if your Daughter has taken the opening time from Google, this information might be not updated.

I have been looking for shops existing on Google, but already closed monthes before and not existing anymore.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
