That does seem like an option... but kanwrite's feed is the traditional spoon style with very few fins, and its cut back a fair bit, deepening the fins might require a bit of finesse

The main issue is the cut going at an angle so the saw should always come down vertically straight. The angle needs to be checked every couple of times you go back and forth. Also, need to keep an eye on the depth. Going too deep may result in breaking the feed.

I should mention that cutting it neatly can be tricky and to be honest, I had to practice on a couple of feeds to get it right.

Yes you have done an awesome job. Not easy to do at all with bare hands and a saw. 👍

Verry sorry. I didn't see the last part. I have been successful with 3/0 and 2/0 both. But I think the 2/0 might be more suitable for the KW #5 feeds.

Thanks for this input.

Just to close this report, I finally ran out of ink in my Gama Eyas Eyedropper. There was no burping or leaking or any misbehavior till the last drop of ink. :)

Wonderful 👍

Oh... I didn't know kanwrite made these kinds of feed for the no.5 nib... I've ordered a couple of no.5 feeds for my Beena Lincoln and kanwrite saloon from Awasthi ji of Kanwrite, and they sent me the more traditional looking ones rather than these ones... Anyway, thanks for the info

Best

You need to mention sheaffer type feed. They have #6, #5 and #4 sizes.

I have experimented in the past with KW feeds by deepening the fins using a jewellers saw. No burping even with sharp rise in temperatures ( ˜ -10˚ C to +15˚C) within 10-15mins.

So neatly done. Glad to know it works nicely 👍

Hi, could you give a picture of your modified feed alone in all angles? I'd like to see the way you've cut the fins... Hope it won't be an inconvenience...

Hi Aravind,

I've taken some pics of the modified feeds, properly done as well as one from early trials. FYI, both feeds are perfectly functional. Just that one doesn't look good.

I've also added some pics of the jeweller's saw that i have used, as well as all three sizes offered by kanwrite, in addition to what @hari317 sir had uploaded.

Hope the pics help. I've added some descriptions to the pics.

Thanks.

Nicely done and we'll explained sir👍👏... One slight doubt remaining .. did you only cut from the bottom side, or did you deepen the fins all round?

No, just the underside. I think that's enough for the purpose. I guess you can deepen the upper part as well but it might make the feed structurally weak.
