Since we have no idea where your 'here' is, perhaps it might help if you popped over to the introductions board and told us?

I think it'd be easier for everyone else, if he/she was of a mind to make that information readily known, by adding it to his/her forum member profile, so that they don't have to go digging to see whether he/she has posted a self-introduction thread, and whether that information is disclosed there if such a thread exists.

But what constitutes your subjective definition of a ‘good’ nib? JoWo and Bock make some good #6 nibs, of which there is no doubt, but it doesn't mean everyone likes every unit made; and it also doesn't mean a given unit can be fitted onto a PenBBS 456.

My favourite ‘#6 nibs’ include the EF nib on my Diplomat Aero (that I believe is made by Bock, on account of the shape of the feed paired with it), the EF nib made by JoWo on my Edison Collier, the EF nib made by JoWo on my Fine Writing International Planets series: Mercury. The Nemosine #6 EF and Stub nibs aren't bad, and I've made a whole set of replacement nib units out of them for screwing into my PenBBS 308 and 309 pens as the need rises. However, fitting a Nemosine #6 nib onto a PenBBS 355 is a recipe for disaster.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Yeah, you are correct it is supposed to be subjective.  If it is like that then I would probably just want to know what the good options are. Thanks!

My experience with round nibs from Penbbs is that they're pretty good to extremely good. Occasionally the slit is a little tight, and needs some adjustment. But that's the case with most nibs. I've just looked over the other nibs that I've swapped into my Penbbs 456 pens. Most of them are bog-standard Jinhao nibs that I've ground into 1.1 mm italics, and they perform well.

Agree with Bobje on the PenBBS round medium nibs.  They can be a bit dry right out of the package but a good flossing, gapping of the tines will make a world of difference.  I think Kaigelu nibs are available now and some of them can be outstanding writers with nice, wet medium lines.  You may need to be cautious with some of these nibs.  There may not be much room in the cap for some nibs.  They may be slightly longer or not set as deeply in the section.  Your mileage may vary but it could be worth the experiment.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
