Which pen(s) are you waiting for in the mail? 2021

After a couple of years without buying any fountain pens I just got a few Pelikan. I got a Star Ruby M205, a Moonstone M205, a Vibrant Orange M600, a Green/White M605, a Red Tortoise M600, and the M805 Blue Dunes.

Now I am waiting for a White Tortoise M400, a marbled Petrol M205, a Pastel Green M200, a marbled Brown M200, and a marbled Green M200.

All the steel nibs are Fine, and the gold nibs EF. I love the Fine nibs. But I find the Pelikan EF steel nibs scratchy. However, there is always an exception. I have an older Toledo Red Pelikan with its original EF steel nib that is extremely smooth.

I am very excited to get into the fountain pen groove once more.

That's a fairly extensive selection of Pelikan pens. :) I'm waiting on ‘my’ second M205 Blue-Marbled, second M200 Gold-Marbled, first M200 Brown-Marbled, and (first) two M200 Green-Marbled to be dispatched next week. I put ‘my‘ in quotes, because the M205 Blue-Marbled and one of the M200 Green-Marbled, as well as the handful of Pelikan Twist pens that will be sent in the same shipment, are going into the giveaway stash (unless my wife wants some of those pens for herself). Between us, if I'm not mistaken she has three M205 and one M120 pens (sometimes I lose count), and I have eight Mnnn pens, as of now.

Also yet to arrive is a Platinum President and a Platinum Procyon (which I wasn't planning on ever buying on account of the asking price and street price, but now that I could get it for under US$40 and the marginal shipping cost is free, OK, I'll add it to my library of pens); and the Leonardo Musis Oplontis I ordered a few hours ago, that I'm not looking forward to.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

The Curidas knockoff? Plan on posting a review?

Maybe.  Isn't there a review already?   As I don't have a 'real' one, I've nothing (as such) to compare it to.

And a Platinum Preppy transparent to see what the “hype” is about low cost Platinum pens.

I've just bought an Omas Milord Roller in aubergine colour that I was after since a while.

As I'm on holiday I've asked the seller to delay shipment after end of the month, the seller said ok, but since he will be on holiday until September 5th, he will ship after that date!

It will be a long wait!

I forgot there was a Pink Preppy in the order, which arrived tonight.  I have only put this one to paper tonight.  The clear one will probably wait until the weekend.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
