MB 149 Clip from 1970/80s?

I found this MB 149. It looks real to me, but the clip looks a bit off... I believe it may be an old style (I have a somewhat similar clip on one of my 146s). However, I can't find much information on how the clip has changed over time.

Does anyone know what years MB used this kind of clip? It's bent, right (i.e., that's not how it's supposed to be, is it)? From the barrel construction and nib (looks like 14C bicolor?), I think 1970s/1980s. Is that right? Or am I completely wrong and this is just a fake?

This chart is how I typically date 146/149s: https://www.penrealm.com/knowledge-base/montblanc-149/

All looks good to me - great nib, congratulations.  I think the clip looks out of shape but in my limited experience that's not that unusual.

Thanks @AcLondon

So I'm actually pretty confused on this pen. It seems to have a 2-tone 14c nib and a 2 section barrel, which would mean from the chart that it's 1988-1989. But then all the clips I've found from pens of that era (before and after) are flat with a "pillow" at the end... not like this. I suppose it's possible it's an old clip put on a newer pen? If so, then I guess that's alright (looks like it'll need a new clip anyways).

The clip is 1970s to early 1980s correct. If is definitely bent.  The barrel is a one piece, not a two piece.

Oh, really? I guess I don't have enough experience with the two piece barrels. Then I suppose the timeline checks out. Thanks so much!

I'll have to look out for an old 146 clip!

The easiest giveaway is the two piece has thicker, matte collar ring.

I think there are a bunch of clips recently posted at penboard.de.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
