Danish Coral 202

While you all continue to be so kind with your advice, I'll keep stretching your willingness to help a newbie with a hot finger at auctions..  Picked up a MB Danish-made coral 202 push button recently.  An unusual feature, as far as I can tell, is that it has a two-tone 14c of the kind found on celluloid 142s & 144s.  All other versions I've seen have the older style monotone with the big '2' or '4' etc in the middle.  My research tells me these 202s were made for a very short period of time, 1950-1954.  Obviously that fits the time of the two-tone nibs but but maybe the Danes never used them? For my own historical interest I'd love if it was possible that my two-tone is original.  Has anyone come across one before on a 202/204/206?  Most likely, I'm sure, is that it's a Montblanc refurb job done somewhere in the mid to late 50s.  Anyone have any insight?  Thanks, as always, ac.

So, my coral 202 has arrived. Its nib is most unusual to my eyes. Not the typical nib with 2 or 4 in a circle but what looks like a very early two-tone 14c with flat feed and the 'filled-in' bit between 'm' and circle in montblanc symbol. I haven't seen that before on either a coral or 142/144. Maybe it's very common and my inexperience is showing? I'd live any insight any of you may have. Photos below

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
