Can you review a Recife Fountain Pen ?.

Recommended Posts

Dear Guys,

I am about to purchase a Recife Fountain Pen from the USA and wanted to give an FPN member with at least 500 posts, the opportunity to review it, before posting it to me ( I will pay for postage both ways ).

Recife pens are made in France.

If your interested in doing so, please post below and I will respond to you.

Thank you

Adding my expression of interest here. I have been looking at Soyuz models. I love the look of the materials (apparently they are really made of stones).

Also considering Diplomat Aeros. Not willing (or able!) to shell out 10K Pesos on any pen just yet, but willing and able to take it up to the next level in terms of price and potentially quality. My most expensive pens so far as Faber-Castell Ambition (I own three).

Alexitto, thank you for expressing an interest. The minimum number of posts required on the FPN are 500.

So, did you get the pen? How do you like it?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Then, I would be glad to do so!

Dear amberleadavis, it’s very kind of you to offer. A lot of things have changed financially since my posting in April 2021, so I will let you know if I can still proceed with it.

Sorry to hear that and I hope things improve.

What model Recife?  I already own a Crystal and am pretty familiar with it.

It's a marbled red beauty, and despite being an eyedropper, behaves well.  It's also well-balanced and light weight, with a thick section that is comfortable to grip.

I got it in the days of lush-looking art catalogues sent right to your home, and my only regret is that I didn't also buy a green one.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Dear Sailor Kenshin, I’ve found a picture of the pen that I am interested in purchasing ( see picture below ).

I’m not sure what model of Recife it is.

Thanks. I hope things improve, as you can never have too many fountain pens.

Not sure, either, but it's not the Crystal (the model I have).  Yours appears to have a sort of piston rod...

Best of luck.

Not an entry, but *very* nice of you to offer this, kavanagh, a PIF enriches the whole community :)
I'm thinking I'm too late out the gate anyway, even if it sounds interesting with these pens...
Also, I'm nowhere near 500 points :D

Stay safe,
Daneaxe

Thank you Daneaxe. Hopefully, all things being well, I will re-ignite the ‘Recife’ project.

I am rather late to this discussion but I will add my comments on the Recife Crystal. It's been my go to pen for my 1000 words/day for a fairly long time. If it matters, mine is the red marble cap and grip with a medium point. I writes very well. It's a medium/large pen which might be a problem for a person with small hands but is ideal for me. I am left handed and might expect a problem with smearing but I have none. The line from a medium point is smooth and just the right amount of wetness. I like the eye dropper fill because the reservoir takes enough ink to last me 3x longer than a standard converter or cartridge and if done carefully, is quite clean and does not put ink on the grip and nib. My only negative is that it is somewhat top heavy when I post the cap.

Were I to lose this pen I would look to replace it.

I have the pen in the photo although it is purple.

A nice pen. It appears to have a 5 Schmitt nib and is well built. My daughter gave it to me along with the matching ballpoint.

Not much more to say.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
