Database mishap - fixed

Dearest Members and Visitors of the Fountain Pen Nuthouse,

 

Today, around 10 am EDT, 3 pm GMT, we encountered a database problem, caused by a fix gone awry, and had to restore a slightly older backup.

 

Earlier today we applied a fix to a bunch of annoyances, but one of those was not entirely correct, and it started deleting posts and members. Fortunately we made a back-up prior to doing these fixes, and we have now restored that back-up, iand applied all fixes again except the problem one.

 

We may have lost a few posts and data as a result, as there was a two hour lag between back-up and noticing something was going wrong.

Basically, posts and replies between 13:54 CEST / 12:54 GMT / 07:54 EDT  and approximately 16:06 CEST / 15:06 GMT / 10:06 EDT have been lost because of this. 

Our sincerest apologies for that. Sometimes that happens when necessary work is done.

 

Anyway, in case you do find there are some problems, please let us know in the Community Feedback forum, to which you have access as a registered, signed-in member.

Thanks for your continuing stewardship of this forum on behalf of the community. The technology is beyond me, but I am sure it is complicated and offers lots of challenges to keep in working order!
