Forgive me if this is in the wrong forum; I couldn't decide here or Market Watch. Read this at the Pelikans Perch. Looks beautiful so far-- can't wait to see what it looks like in person. Thoughts?

 

(Might have gotten the picture too big so I tried to hide it in a spoilers tag)

 

My thoughts: it looks like the Ocean Swirl, which I *love*, but I just bought the new Sailor Yozakura/Night Sakura so I'll probably pass on this for now...

That certainly looks more attractive to my eyes than the M205 Moonstone.

Seriously, I think it looks beautiful. A lot of the M20X series recently have been white plus light colours, or demonstrators, but this pen looks as if it has real depth and a moodiness to the swirls that gives it a quite different feel.

Too many pens, too little time!

Hmmm.  A BB nib, you say?  That may be a game changer then.  Because I could swap the BB nib unit into one of the M400/M405 pens, or onto the M200.  And then sell the pen to someone else....  Because I really don't especially like the color.

I mean, it's not like I have the "correct" nib on my M405 Stresemann anyway....  (When I got that pen, the vendor didn't have the completely rhodium plated nib in the width I wanted.  And I decided that getting a B nib was more crucial to me than getting a 100% "correct nib (plus, if there's ever an issue of "my" Stresemann vs. someone else's Stresemann, I  can say, "Nope -- the Stresemann with the *2-toned* B nib is MY pen!" B)

Just got a black 250 and a old style marbled blue 200 pen set, both NOS so this new 200 came out a couple days too late.:angry:

 

When one is cursed with a budget, it helps to read the future.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

 

 

The cheapest lessons are from those who learned expensive lessons. Ignorance is best for learning expensive lessons.

I really like the look of this one! I haven't being buying M200s in a while, and the blue swirl M205 was really nice. This one looks as nice, and the BB nib really makes it interesting too.

A 200 nib would be an upgrade on IMO any 'post '97 400/600 nib and it's been a while since Pelikan issued a BB nib as far as I know.

Hummmm.....got to call up my B&M....as soon as Biden's money comes in, to see if he's got a 200's nib in BB or can order one for me.

Dam; how fast common sense can kick in a dreamy thought.....I've got semi-flex BB's and or OBB's.

 

My mind does have a built in 14 K golden shovel for throwing money over my shoulder.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
