Anyone have experience with Mr. Cypress pens? Some of the examples I've seen online look nice. I've read good reports on Instagram but little details.

You can view the catalog here.  https://online.fliphtml5.com/djtgl/bkco/#p=1

Thanks.

sgphototn,

I'll give this question a bump.  Mr. Cypress was mentioned in another thread about wood pens.  I went to his web page and saw some of the prettiest pens.  I also want to know more about this pen maker and the product.

Regards,

Craig

I don't own one of these pens, but I see them a lot on Instagram. it appears they are doing a lot of budget urushi and raden pens, in addition to many other c/c pens. They use lots of different materials and usually have jowo nibs. However, some of their recent projects use pelikan m800 nibs or platinum 3776 nibs in ebonite bodies. I think these pens will probably get more attention soon, because there's a lot of cool stuff going on there.

MC has interesting pen designs, esp. the Raden models.  that being said, generally, MC pens are not on the same level of most of the Japanese Raden/Urushi models in terms of the quality of the urushi and skill of applying - (Namiki hon-urushi requires months of curing and several layers which adds to the price) as well as the fastidiousness of cutting and 3-dimensionality of design features.  Even some Japanese companies use a cheaper 'urushi' such as  "cashew urushi" which is much cheaper than hon-urushi and easier to apply.  If you read Japanese, those pens will indicate such on the labels...

But they are priced accordingly.  And they have a lot of wooden/acrylic models in the $100-300 range that stand up well to competitors.
