Help Confirming ST Dupont Olympio Vertigo is Real

I don't have many doubts, but could you let me know if anything here suggests "fake"? Also, how do I tell the different sizes?

Are there characters (numbers/letters) on the clip...usually very small on the sides or perhaps underside of the clip?

Yes, it does -- I just added a picture. It says "MADE IN FRANCE 5H4EG96". I'm assuming that's the serial number?

Yes, and That leads a lot of credence to the fact that it is NOT a fake....Great looking Pen - Congrats!

Olympio  Vertigo where made in two  sizes and in two different patterns. The first series are similar to yours and the second had the "squares" at 90 degrees inclination. Congratulations on your pen.

Do you happen to know whether mine is the smaller or larger size? Or what the measurements of the larger or smaller size are?

Yours looks to be the larger size. It's hard to tell from photos, but the larger size is definitely a little beefier. The regular size is about 5.5" capped, while the larger is 5.75" capped.

best,

Hi all, I just bought a Dupont Vertigo (first series) in the XL, and can happily answer your question about confirming size from photo, at least for first series (square rather than diamond shape).

Don't hold me to this--perhaps there a edition changes I am not aware of-- but I feel fairly confident saying that the large (sometimes referred to as medium) size has 10 squares on the barrel, while the XL (sometimes referred to as large size) has 11.

If I remember correctly, the caps on both pens have same number of squares, though, so you can't tell by cap alone. So as long as you can see a photo of entire barrel then you should be able to confirm even if seller doesn't list size. I have also bought several pens claiming to be XL size only for them to arrive as L....so it's comforting to be able to confirm by photo.

I had purchased it online but then became worried it had been misrepresented (as others had been), and after searching many photos online I finally thought to count squares.

With other Duponts (including atélier and montparnasse) they are so attentive to relative proportions that I have found it otherwise impossible to guage the size from photos alone (unless photo has a ruler included or etc).

Hope that helps....!

Thank you both so much! I believe it is the XL size... it has 11 squares and measures 5.75 inches. That's great! Thanks again for your help!
