J. Herbin Vert de Gris

Pilot Plumix on Rhodia Dot Pad

Flow: somewhat dry, but not too dry

Bleeding/feathering: minimal

Shading: some with stub nib

Water Resistance: medium, but by no means permanent

Saturation: medium

Color: per the name, meant to imitate the patina on copper objects (Statue of Liberty, etc.); nice vintage teal/gray color, almost a blue black

Notes: I really like this color; the ink is well-behaved; would be a show stopper if permanent

I like Vert de Gris a lot too - especially in wider nibs, though funnily enough I've just inked up a fine with it just for a change. I've not had a problem with dryness, but I'll soon see with the finer nib!

Thank you - I think it's one that often gets overlooked.

This reminds of R&K verdigris. Though verdigris is a well lubricated ink. However, none of them remind me of the patina. Statue of Liberty is more of blue green.. ;)

This looks also very much like Noodler's Legal Lapis - at least the way it writes now.  I have a faint memory of Legal Lapis being a bit darker, but over the years the ink in my bottle seems to have faded a bit.

Legal Lapis, I think, was designed to be more permanent that the Vert de Gris.

Using right now:

Marlen M10 Lux "M" nib running Diamine Firefly

Cross 175th Anniversary"F" nib running Narwhal Carmel Sea Blue

Diplomat Excellence A2 "EF" nib running Jacques Herbin Caroube de Chipre

I think vert de Gris is a bit grayer than LL.

Only by name. Rohrer & Klingner verdigris name is totally failed as it's anyhing but "vert" (green).

But I like it more than Vert de Gris by Herbin as it's very unique and awesomely looking dark blue.

Here it is after being soaked in water. Looks like it contains some black or grey component that is somewhat water resistant after the dyes wash away.
