Would Bock nibs fit in a pen threaded for a Jowo nib unit?

I bought my fountain pen from Ranga pens. Its an Abhimanyu model in acrylic with a #6 Jowo nib. This pen feels very comfortable in my hand and I'm planning to upgrade it to a titanium nib since I want to try one. As per my limited knowledge Bock is the only supplier of titanium nibs. But I don't know if a bock nib unit will fit into a pen threaded for Jowo nib. I got this doubt because on the website thepenworld.com they have Jowo compatible nib units separately and Bock compatible nib units separately, both made by Kanwrite. So I was wondering if there is difference in them both. Can anyone advice me on that? Is it possible for me to upgrade this pen to a titanium nib or I have to purchase one more with a titanium nib?

Firstly, Ranga will make you a Bock threaded pen, sans nib.

Jowo/Bock housings are threaded differently, therefore they are not interchangeable.

Jowo nibs fit in Bock housings better than Bock nibs in Jowo housings.

I have one Bock nib permanently mounted in a Jowo housing. It fits at the base, but I had to bend the nib, slightly, from the breather hole to the tip to get capilliary action, i.e. ink flow.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Contact Ranga - they may also be able to make you a Bock threaded section to match your pen (and of course the nib/unit as well if you want it). Or as you say, get an extra pen - the price for the group buy right now is very attractive!

#6 and #8 nibs cannot be swapped; their nib housings are also different.

If you want to upgrade your pen to a #8 ask Ranga to make you a new section threaded for a #8 housing.

It is my understanding, bearing in  mind that these are hand made, that an additional section must be ordered at the same time pen is ordered.

Bock is not the only company that manufactures titanium nibs. In india, titanium nibs are made by Acriv fountain pens, especially in their latest statement range. Fortunately they also sell titanium nibs and have recently launched the Jowo compatible titanium nib units. My experience with Titanium nibs is that they have a bit more feedback as compared to steel nibs.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
