Hello!

 

been wanting a dual onyx base pen set for a long time. Scored a great base on ebay, but pens are pretty tired. 
 

They are white dot edition brown pens. Mismatched. 1 gold 14K, 1 whatever 

 

Is there a killer tutorial for rebuilding these? Where do ya’ll like to order parts. Is there tip for writing with them? I’ve never spent much time with real pens, trying not to ruin these with a resto.

Hello and Welcome to FPN!! So glad to have you as a member!!

 

If they are both cartridge fillers then remove the carts and give the part with the nib (the section) a good soak in water over several days. New Sheaffer carts are the same as the ones in use back when these pens were made. I found some at Staples. After installing the Carts it may take a while to get ink to flow and you may have to squeeze the carts to get ink out to the nib.

Just what Packman said, you'll enjoy the pens a lot. Do be sure and buy Sheaffer cartridges as they are proprietary

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
