Can anyone recommend a good nib adjustment / "nibmeister" service?

I purchased this Pelikan M600 Souverän pen from "Amazon Global Store UK" in October, 2020. (I live in the U.S. and purchased through the U.S. Amazon website; but that the name of the seller was "Amazon Global Store UK."  The pen shipped from the U.K.  The price was better than from any U.S. seller.)  It's nominally an "M" nib.

 

It turns out the nib has serious flow problems:  the amount of ink flowing is just not what would be expected from a Pelikan with an "M" nib, and it's finnicky about flow if not held at just the right angle.  

 

The nib seems properly seated on the feed, so I'm not quite sure what the problem is; maybe the tines are just not quite properly aligned with one another.  

 

And I believe I'm beyond the time limit for Pelikan's nib exchange program.


Can anyone recommend a service that, for a reasonable fee, will "tune" or adjust the nib so it writes more like a typical "M" nib?

Before you send it off are you being careful not to roll the pen to the left or right?  I sometimes have to correct myself about this and then I post the cap so that the clip serves as a visual reference.

Since they are authorised sellers (I believe), I would speak to the US distributors (Chartpak, I believe) in the first instance. It sounds like the nib/feed may be faulty. Yes, you're out of the free nib exchange period, but you have a three year warranty on the pen, and if it's defective, they will make it right. 

 

You can have a nib adjusted to suit you, but you shouldn't have to do so because it doesn't work properly in the first place.

Nope. I tried one person recommended to me in AU, and they butchered a couple of nibs. Never again; I now deal with the hassle of sending to the US, knowing at least that competent people are working on them.

This is a great list. A big +1 for Mark Bacas, who just tuned 3 nibs to perfection for me (a Visconti, a Sailor and an Omas). He asks a series of detailed questions first to make sure to get it right for your hand (which is awfully nice when you can't do it in person) and sends a video of the pen being used to make sure the line is what you were looking for before sending it back. It's not a fast process, but then I suspect the same is true of most top nibmeisters--they have all the work they can handle.
