I made a cross point style nib.

Everyone knows that Cross points are some of the most innovative and best nibs out there. I’ve been meaning to make one myself and finally sat down and did it. It was my first time welding 2 functional nibs together and I have to say that it worked very well.
I’ve added some pictures, including comparisons with Sailor’s own cross nib.

In the writing sample, blue is Sailor and purple is my own, done from 2 montblanc nibs. In the comparison pictures, left is Sailor and right is my own.

i hope you enjoy!

I don't know if I'm more impressed or terrified that, the very first first time you tried to weld nibs together, you went for Montblanc nibs! In either case, the final result is spectacular. Well done!

Beautiful work. Thank you for sharing. Have just read your entire "Anatomy of a Stacked Nib."  Very interesting and informative from a technical, aesthetic, and historical perspective. Not only do you thoroughly explain your process, you praise others who have attempted and succeeded at making their own versions of stacked nibs. Your talent is matched only by your humility and humanity. Thank you for being our teacher. Arigato, sensei.

This is Tokyostation, right? You have so many identities it's hard to keep up. Nice work BTW and your podcast is essential listening for all who visit this part of the forum.

Great work!  Let me know if you ever need a test writer.  :)

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Very impressive. I think I remember you talking about this in your podcast so I was looking at the slit alignment, the welds, and what part of the nib was used to stack. Get ready for a flood of orders!
