Modus Ponens
It's only a deal if you like those colors... in the picture it looks more orange to me than bronze. Edit: To be fair, after I clicked on the link, the pen and ink do resemble more bronze than orange... weird. Edited February 9 by Modus Ponens
inkstainedruth
Well, given that the pen alone is normally $34.95 in the US, getting the pen plus the converter, plus a bottle of ink is a pretty good deal. But I agree with you -- not my choice for pen OR ink color.... Now, if I could find someplace that's got that sort of deal going when the new color al-Star (that ice blue color that I think they called "Azure") comes out, we'd be talking! And I'd be going "TAKE MY MONEY!" (Heck, the color is interesting enough I'll likely be saying that even without the converter included -- let alone a super pale blue ink... the regular Lamy Blue is boring enough already). Ruth Morrisson aks inkstainedruth "It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."
Mr Bill
I took the deal, and Saturday, my Al Star, ink, and converter arrived. I have always wanted an Al Star to compare with my Safari so I ordered and 4 days later it arrived. Sure enough the ink is orange and that's fine by me, I am happy with the order. You'll just have to wait until the end, to see if that out-of-production special edition colour of the year is unpopular enough with consumers that there is a surplus of remaining stock one or more retailers (that you'd normally check out from time to time) want to liquidate and make room for the next special edition, in sufficient numbers of units that other fans haven't all jumped on the clearance price before you come across it. It happens every year, unless a colour proves really popular and approach unobtanium status even before the next season, in which case there is no reason to lower the price for hobbyists at large who are willing to pay the asking price and climb over each other to get at it. I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct for valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.
