I accidentally bought a 1.1 stub size 5!

Well, this is probably not going to be my first mistake. I got a 1.1 stub for a jinhao X750 and didn’t noticed it was a size 5!

So I now have this nib and no pen to use it. Any cheap recommendations to get and put it in?

Tried my Kaweco sports, but this one is too long. I already have a stub in an Twisbi Eco.

Help please.
I don’t want to waste this nib. Maybe a cheap and good Moonman? I think I have enough Jinhaos 😅

Oh, my, to have such a terrible problem.

:D

Check out the pens at Fountain Pen Revolution from Kevin... ask him for recommendations if in doubt... he'll hook you up. 👍

Just put it away. No hurry. You may need it in a pen down the road.

Thank you all for the kind recommendations! I got a jinhao 992 on the way and I think it will fit that one.

I totally broke my No new fountain pens resolution for this year XS

will need to come up with an explanation for my partner, I could say new pen pals have a kind heart. 😅

Jinhao 992 if you want a small comfy pen that is super cheap.

The penbbs pens and moonman c1 would not fit.

The moonman m2 probably would.

A cheap option, but still Jinhao, is a Jinhao X500. Takes a #5.

Not a bad pen.

Not sure but it might fit a Moonman C1 or C2 both nice pens available on Amazon or ebay.

Hi InknSap,

I'm glad you were able to find a solution to your cataclysmic crisis. :D

The way I see it, you have two options: You can pull yourself up, dust yourself off and start anew; or you can throw in the towel, buy all kinds of pens and convince yourself that 2022 "will be the year!"

Don't lie! It will always eventually turn around and bite you in the glutes. Just keep a glazed expression on your face and insist you dont see any strange, unauthorised pens lying around. 👍

+1

The muft pens that FPR offers, are , by the looks of it, Oliver exam piston fillers. They will accept a No 5 nib as well (I use mine with Kanwrite No 5 nibs).

PS tough life choices to make.

Nope, the Muft is an eyedropper pen (I have three).  The Guru is FPR's lowest price piston filler, and the Indore their lowest price cartridge/ converter pen.  eta:  All three are fitted with FPR #5.5 nibs, and a #5 should be a fairly good fit.

Ohh I did not knew that (I have none, so made a guess from pics of it on site), Thanks for the nugget of truth.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
