Braxfield
Am I correct in thinking that the Waterman Expert 2 and 3 have identical nib sections? Would a replacement nib for the 2 also fit the 3? For that matter would the same nib section also fit the Mark 1? And, if I wanted to use a Mark 1 rollerball as a fountain pen, would the nib section fit that too? Or is there something about the cap that would render that inadvisable? All advice gratefully received. "They come as a boon and a blessing to men, the Pickwick, the Owl and the Waverley Pen." zeroduke
I think so. Sections from Series 2 and 3 are interchangeable. Even Series 1 section screws in Series 2 or 3 barrels. But not series 1 cap on the others and otherwise because of different diameter. I cannot comment on Expert 1 rollerball transplant since I haven't got any rollerball. But I can say you can switch any fountain pen section into 1, 2 or 3 barrels. Some pictures of the three series: The blue is series 2. On the left, with the nice different nib is series 1. Braxfield
That is very helpful thank you. The only reason I have a Series 1 rollerball is that I purchased it sight unseen in a batch of pens. It arrived sans refill and to my surprise the "standard" Waterman rollerball refill does not fit. I'd much rather it ran as a fountain pen. I didn't think I would enjoy the lightweight barrel but to my surprise I do. Most of the replacement nibs sections that I see are for the 2/3 series, hence my question. I find the Expert a surprisingly comfortable pen. To my mind it has a rather stodgy appearance but more than makes up for it in comfort and balance. Waterman draws criticism these days for not being down with the kids. I think it's a dark horse: for sheer writing utility hard to beat. zeroduke
All of them are beautiful and traditional. I love this pen. And series 1 with that unique two-tone nib and so light!
