Inks to match green pens

Which diamine shimmering ink is the closest match to the Lamy BlueGreen pen?

I’m guessing maybe magical forest or peacock flare or spearmint diva or enchanted ocean or tropical glow.

I want to buy only one of these inks and want it to be the one that looks most like the pen.

Attached is a photo of another excellent match - TWSBI Prussian Blue with Kyo No Oto Hisoku. That’s the kind of match I’m after.

Also does the Lamy turmaline match any of those inks well?

Thanks for any tips...

Tinta Diamine Delamare Green - 30 Ml Para Caneta Tinteiro

Hi Rachael, welcome, do you know Dianine Delamere Green ink?

I believe it can meet your expectations! It also has the advantage of being offered in the 30 ml bottle. There are some stores that sell smaller quantities of paint as a test sample, it is worth the effort to search until you find your paint!

I am sure that there will be several contributions from FPN members.

@Switala thanks for your prompt reply. I am especially interested in one of the shimmering inks - sparkles for the festive season. I am getting some samples from Goulet but unfortunately they don’t have all of the greens.

@Switala Obrigado por sua pronta resposta. Estou especialmente interessado em uma das tintas brilhantes - brilhos para a época festiva. Estou pegando algumas amostras de Goulet, mas infelizmente eles não têm todos os verdes.

Brilliant would be Olivine from Pelikan brand Edelstein, sparkling, you can find some Herbin and Diamine itself, but I don't remember the names of the colors.

Welcome Rachel, lots of things to see here. Just ordered this green from Tasmania. Small ink company called Van Dieman's". Due next week here in Motueka. I really like the green range because I live near the Abel Tasman and the native bush is at the bottom of the garden.

Good to have you with us,

Cheers, Gary from Mot.

Hey again Rachel, I just checked my inks and my most shimmery blue/green at the moment is J. Herbin, Vert Atlantide. Not sure how much shimmer will show with such a fine nib but it really get some sheen going with a 1.1mm nib. That is usually available at our favourite pen/ink shop in Whanganui. Cheers, Gary

Try Diamine Peacock Flare - it's a little darker than Tropical Glow, but has plenty of shimmer and would be a very good colour match from what I can see of the pen.

The other great match with shimmer and sheen would, I think, be Robert Oster Crystal Marine.

I have to admit that the idea of a green ink in a green pen hadn't crossed my mind until this thread came up despite green being my favourite colour.  Now, that you've put the idea in my mind, I've short listed three greens to try.  Delemere Green is at the top of the list.

I really struggle to put anything except green ink into a green pen - in fact, my biggest problem is always what colour to use in light coloured pens where the 'matching' ink might be too pale to be legible. That's where colour theory starts to come into play!

Now you have to show us your green pens :)

No worries.  That will happen after my planned next green pen purchase next month.

I am happy to have helped to bring a new look to your pens and inks.

These combinations are always a lot of fun.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
