Opus 88 Koloro and Omar question about ink flow stopping...

Hi.  I recently started using the Opus 88 Koloro and Omar pens after the boxes remaining unopened for more than a year after purchase.  When starting out writing, I regretted not having used them much earlier as they were a delight to write with!  A few weeks ago, I encountered a problem with 2 of the pens.  They would start to write, but then the ink flow stopped completely after the ink level went down to a little less than half even when the ends were screwed open enough to allow the ink to flow in.  I noticed that when I unscrew the feed section from the barrel and immediately reattach it, I am able to write normally again for a while until the flow stops again.  Does anyone know what is going on and if there is a remedy to this?

I tried opening the valve even more.  I did it initially just enough to make sure the piston part didn't obstruct the ink flow like how it said in the instructions, but tried again giving it a good 1/4-.5 inch space. For now, the ink seems to be flowing again!  Hopefully it resolved the issue.  Don't understand why though.  Fingers crossed.

Hmm.  I tried writing again and the ink ended up stopping again...

I have similar problems with an Opus 88 Koloro.  Every so often (probably never more than once a day) the pen will just dry up even though the reservoir is almost completely full.  The only way to restart it is to prime it by dipping it into a bottle of ink.  It then writes happily for a day or so until it happens again.  I'm guessing it's an air interchange issue so I now have the  piston backed off several turns.  It seems to be OK at the moment...

The valve on the Koloro is always open 3mm. I only close it whilst flying.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Yeah, 3mm doesn't sound much but it looks quite a lot.  I guess that's the answer.  Thank you!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
