Lamy Al Star 50th Anniversary Fountain pen

Recommended Posts

hi,

I'm wondering if the Lamy Al Star 50th Anniversary Fountain pen is "just" the regular Al Star Graphite (026) with some graphics applied.

When I remember correctly the first Al Star Graphite (026) comes with a black nib. The current ones come with a silver nib?

<- or did they change the model over the years?

Does anyone have a comparison between following models: 025 - 026 - Anniversary Pen - Ruthenium?

thanks in advance

cheers

As he mentioned the Al Star Anniversary Pen is exactly the Lamy 026 + with some graphics applied

but if you compare more accurate you will see the differences in the colour shape (top one vs 3rd (from right to left))

After some research and hints from kmpn I found this https://www.facebook.com/LAMYGermany/posts/1193967590664601:0

on their fb page:

translate:

on the occasion of this event we will launch a exclusive special edition: LAMY AL-star thinking tools.

The Lamy Al-star graphite will be added with a lasered?? Line,...

seems that Lamy just reused the standard 026 Model for their Anniversairy Edition.

Despite that fact. It comes with a fancy metalbox & packaging.

I would appreciate it, if anyone could take a photo of them (side by side) for comparison

cheers

With a bit of delay, but I hope it helps although lighting isn't perfect.

Both pens are identical. In case there's the difference it's because of lighting reflection, not because of different colour.

I've been trying to get a straight answer (based on the "official" photos because the Azure al-Star isn't Stateside yet) as to what the color actually is.  The first photos made it look to be a very pale blue, but since then I've seen photos where the pen just looks pale silver/grey.

They are not out yet. I'll post pictures once I get them. As usual. I'll put some other colours beside them if you like.

That would be really helpful, thanks.  If you've got a Ruthenium LX that would really be stellar, because then I'll have a really good comparison -- I have one of those -- to compare a grey pen with the Azure (the photos I've seen have been so inconsistent -- some look straight grey and some really look more ice blue).

Originally I was looking at Azure as a marginal substitute for the old French Blue Safari (NOS ones on the Bay of Evil being at not-quite nosebleed prices, but way more than I wanted to pay for a Safari) but then lucked out on a used one from a seller halfway across PA for not much more than MSRP on a new al-Star (and I didn't even have to buy a converter -- the pen already had one installed.  I've had it since February and haven't taken it out of rotation yet (I don't think I was even that way with the Dark Lilac, my first Safari) -- just keep refilling the pen with Lamy Crystal Benetoite.

Unfortunately I only have the golden Lx. I'll try to put other common stuff next to it for comparison. Can't be long till they come out. I'm waiting for the newsletter. 😁

I feel the same way about the Azure, Ruth, the promotion picture make it look like a pale blue but, there are no real life pictures from users, this maybe a bit early for that.

And no retailers's video to introduce the new color.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
