Restoration Wahl Eversharp Bantam

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

I have recently acquired a beautiful blue swirl Bantam and I'm refitting the sac since it is a bulb system and the old sac was worn.

The pen came from factory with an aluminum press fitted ring that held the old sac. (see picture)

Now I need to remove this ring in order to properly fit another sac, but have been experiencing some difficulty doing so.

Does anyone have any experience with this or how I should tackle this?

As one of the pictures will show, I have started to chip away at a deep groove in the ring. Will this be problematic?

Thanks in advance for any guidance whatshowever. This is the first proper restoration that I am starting so any information is welcome.

you appear to already have a gap in the ring, now put  a jeweler's screwdriver in the gap and carefully twist and spread it.

I got it off. Now the last thing is to get hold of shellac in Europe. I know that there is a vendor in the UK that sells it but sadly they aren't a part of Europe anymore. Any idea who sells it?

Hardware store, in the paints department?

And I didn't have the heart to tell her why.
And there wasn't a part of me that didn't want to say goodbye.

Shellac, while preferred, is not so critical on a bantam (with its sac always exposed for the user)...clear nail polish will do.  Blasphemy?

Sometimes you are that Uncle we don't talk about...just keep the nail polish off your toes
