Waiting for a few PenBBS 355 pens after the recent release! One in clear glass, one in moon river, and the last in amber is a cat. Very excited for these.

Stefan, would you mind sharing where you found that Wing Sung 601A CT (conical), please? I have only been able to find one with a hooded or an exposed nib, and I really want one with a conical nib. Thanks.

Edit: Never mind, I found one on AliExpress. :)

What is this money pit obsession hole I have fallen into?

Thanks Stefan! I ordered mine from the same seller yesterday. Now the waiting game begins. :)

I've read multiple posts here from people saying that the conical Wing Sung nibs are garbage, but I already have a standard 601A with a conical nib and it is one of my favorite Chinese fountain pens. It writes absolutely beautifully since it's been broken in,  albeit after some fine-tuning with micro-mesh.

What is your experience with them?

Well I like the way the Wing Sung 601A conical is writting, but it depends of course from person to person, the experience can be very different, better or worse ! :)

I have two Jinhao 100's coming my way - the pink one I ordered today, and the orange ice one which has been sitting in the sorting facility of the USPS at the other end of my county since  the eleventh. (I suspect it has fallen into some corner and who knows when it will actually arrive at my door step...)

I am also waiting for three plastic pocket pens - two don't have much of a name, and the third is a Wingsung that looks like a Kaweco sport.

I am a little confused because I am certain I ordered two other pens, but they are not showing...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
