Mine was waiting for me at work tonight. It's quite nice. The red is deep, not as bright as in the 3-pen comparison shot from Fritz; that had a little worried. Being my first M600, I was a little worried about the size, too, but it's not that much bigger than the M400. Lam1 is correct that there's no transparency whatsoever. A bigger problem is deciding on an ink; going by reviews, I'm thinking maybe Blood Orange, which I'll have to order.

Props to Cult, for getting it to me so quickly.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Oh, I love Blood Orange. I have that in my m600 Vibrant Orange.

I ordered a bottle, estimated delivery 12-29 to 1-12. :(

My favourite Pelikan of recent years was the M800 Stone Garden (would have loved the gold or platinum raden M800s too but, you know, money). I think this Red Tortoiseshell would have made a wonderful pairing with the Stone Garden had it been released in the 800 size. I can only hope that we get something like this in future as an M800 - I would buy it in a flash.

But I do recognise that it has been relatively slim pickings for M600 fans lately so I can’t complain.

I wonder why Pelikan has this policy of releasing designs in only one size. I can’t fathom why it wouldn’t be better for everyone to release special editions across all sizes simultaneously, perhaps once a year.

I keep telling myself that since i have a red/tortoise m101n, I certainly don't need a red/tortoise m600.  I mean that makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?....doesn't it?

It makes no sense at all. Sorry. 😉

That is a terrific idea, I would love for Pelikan to do that...but I can see why it makes each edition more special to make it limited to one size. I have to wait until January because apparently Appelboom didn't get sent enough EF nibs for this model. I pre-ordered it the moment it was available, just have to be patient I guess! In the meantime, I am enjoying the first live pics and videos...

I am impressed with Appelboom service. I pre-ordered this pen during fountain pen day with a custom grind. They shipped it Monday, and its expected to be here Thursday.

Hopefully the custom grind is good. I kind of goofed and got a fine nib on my Pelikan, then I asked to get this grinded to a cursive italic. Should have gone with a medium or broad tbh, then asked them to grind down to a fine cursive italic. Oh well you learn.

I am still waiting for mine from Lcdc. It is not shipped yet. So slow!!

LyaT, LcdC shipped mine yesterday, hopefully yours is on the way too.

@chromantic Blood Orange! Yes, sounds like a good match (should I skip the good practice of Royal Blue first fill? Why not... Christmas time!)

I haven't heard anything from Dan Smith, and the nibsmith dot com web site lists the pen as still being awaited. Fortunately, I do have another pen with which to write in the meantime.

Ha ha!  Why do I find that hard to believe, David?  <A> pen, singular?  Go on, pull the other one!  ;^))

I'm in the same situation.

Also, my wife is waiting for a MB Little Prince from them since November 10 - six days ago she accepted to get a different nib, which they supposedly had in stock, and they still haven't shipped it. I tend to be a loyal customer, but they are reaching the limit of my patience. For comparison, my wife ordered her M600 Red from Cult pens (cheaper than mine at LCdC) much later and she's enjoying it for over a week now.

By the way, here is my wife's M600 with other red birds (hers and mine):

Clearance event. This is the message I got from the DHL tracking info from their website. It is 30 min away from my home. Does this mean that I have to pay import taxes (US)?

Nice flock of redbirds!

There is a lot I like about LeCduC, but prompt shipping ain't one of 'em. Their web site does not indicate whether items are in stock or will take 6 months to ship. I have found their sales irresistible several times. Too many times, I've regretted it.

Thank you, David.

Yes, I understand what you mean about LCdC. The worst thing is that they re-did their site and still haven't included the info about pens being in stock or not. Their price is often very good, particularly for MB, but other places have similar (or better) for most other brands, and I feel that their service became worst in the last few months. I ordered an Aurora back in August, which was supposed to ship in 15 days or so... Mid-November I decided to cancel the order :( . I'll probably give them another chance or two, but not much more than that.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
