silverlifter
I saw this pen for sale recently, and I was torn between the horror of a nib that neglected, and the doubt about whether or not it was some sort of artisinal finish that is, in fact, much desired by afficionados. There is something almost deliberate looking about it... Can someone please enlighten me? Vintage. Cursive italic. Iron gall.
Seney724
I saw this pen for sale recently, and I was torn between the horror of a nib that neglected, and the doubt about whether or not it was some sort of artisinal finish that is, in fact, much desired by afficionados. There is something almost deliberate looking about it... Can someone please enlighten me? nib.jpgWhat I am about to say may not apply to this specific pen. For their 80th Anniversary Monsieur A. Mora of Morastylos created a small production run of their "classic" pens in a very retro finish. This included a similar appearing aged, tarnished treatment of the nibs. I think this is what is shown here but, again, out of context and with no other photos, etc. I cannot be sure.
silverlifter
Thanks Seney. Given the quality of Oldwin pens, and the fact that this tarnishing looks deliberate, I suspect it was one of those pens (or one like it). Vintage. Cursive italic. Iron gall.
zaddick
Thst does look like one of the 80th anniversary pens. You can go to the Mora Stylos site and look in the archives for s photo of the pen. Last time I looked they were still in there, but it was a while ago. I had one of these pens although the finish did subside over time. I am pretty sure it can be removed.
