Ed333
I have a Montblanc purchased in 2014, advertised as a Meisterstuck 146, never inked, NIB, with bottle of ink and 8 cartridges. I was preparing to put it up on eBay, thinning the herd, not having used it much, and in looking at the original box, pamphlet etc, I saw for the first time the foldout page at the rear of the Service Guide, the filled out International Guarantee Certificate. It says (handwritten in) Meisterstuck Classique Fountain in the product box, in the model box 106514, and an individual number of MBKB3Z7R6, purchased 06 Mar 2014, and the authorized retailer stamp says Discountshop. The pen measures about 5.5" capped. This is sounding like a Classique and not a LeGrand. By comparison, my 147 Traveler is quite a bit larger than this pen, and I always assumed that was the difference between a 146 and a 147. I will attach a photo or two. It is a really nice pen, and a very smooth wet writer, so I am not upset about it, other than that I may have overpaid back in 2014, in the eBay auction, but that has happened before and will probably happen again. I just do not want to mistakenly advertise it as something it is not, and perhaps price it inappropriately. Can anyone tell me based on this what it is I have? It is still virtually as new, since I gave it little use, the body is a bit small for my hand. Any comment on a fair asking price would be appreciated as well.PS- I once had a Meisterstuck advertised as a 144, and it was smaller than this pen. ???? a little confused here... sansenri
or not the Montblanc expert here, but the 146 is a piston filler, this has a converter... I'd say 145 Edited October 30, 2020 by sansenri
zaddick
145 is correct. it replaced the 144 and carried the classique moniker forward. If you want less blah, blah, blah and more pictures, follow me on Instagram!
Ed333
145 is correct. it replaced the 144 and carried the classique moniker forward.Thank you, good to know. And a 145 is larger than a 144 but smaller than a 146? I saw a reference to a 146 being 5.7+" in length capped, and this is close to 5.5", maybe just a hair over. Just tried with my electronic calipres, 139.93mm
zaddick
Yes a 145 is larger than a 144 and smaller than a modern 146. Early celluloid 146s qerr smaller and the 1970s ans 1980s 146s were a few MM shorter than modern. But the nibs is larger than the 145. georgeb
The 145 uses a converter or ink cartridge like the 144 does. The 146 is a piston filler.
