(Grand daddy of Airmail/ Wality )
This is a very special pen from the house of Airmail.

History :
A company called  Enayatali & Co. in Mumbai used to get their pens made from Airmail between 1950-70s .
This pen is a model from 1962. This is one of the earliest demonstrator pen made from the house of Airmail - a design that is now the hallmark of the company.
The beautiful big nib also a typical Airmail feature. The craftsmanship on the pen is top notch. The beautiful body and use of brass on the cap and clip adds a rich feel to the black cap.
Mohammed bhai the owner of Enayatali & Co. was graceful to sell this pen to me. This is a unique model and not many have survived the test of time. Holding on to a piece of history and legacy makes you only feel more responsible for it.

Sharing it with all Wality/ Airmail lovers.

This was a custom order directly from Airmail pen co. 69TL in solid black, plain barrel with name engraving. I am using this pen since last few days. Brings back a lot of old memories.

The Bock 076 could be the ideal match. I don’t have one at hand. So making do with the FH341. Threaded into section thus offering excellent ink buffering. The Fs and Ms don’t have breather holes on this nib unit.

Looks great and wonderful pictures.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Had somehow missed this thread earlier. Enjoyed reading all the comments.

Had no idea others were using Sheaffer feeds with their Walities since 2008. And your tip on finding out the maximum exposed nib length supported by the cap is excellent Sir, though I had already read it somewhere in one of your other comments on FPN.

Love the color of this Wality. Very fresh. How is your writing experience with these Jowo nibs Sir. Without the tipping, they should give lot of feedback, right?

The Sheaffer feed idea is indeed an old one. The inner cap depth determination idea is also quite old.

This color is quite nice. Got it from ASA Subbu. The JoWo nib is very smooth and nice. But you have to hold the nib at the correct angle. 👍

Thank you for the tip to put a Sheaffer No Nonsense feed in the Wality 69.  I have a 69p and loved the way it wrote but could not tolerate its propensity to leak in the cap.  So I relegated it to the junk box.  It so happened that I had an old Sheaffer school pen with a broken nib in the same junk pen box, and I managed to salvage its feed and resurrect it in the Wality.  I now have a fantastic writer that (so far) has not leaked, and feel cautiously optimistic that it will stay that way.

I can confirm that most Sheaffer school pens as well as the Award and Javelin have the same feed.

Unfortunately the Sheaffer feed in the Wality didn't help the leak from the body of the pen resulting in inky fingers all the time......probably a fine crack at the ink view window that I could not see.  Total junk.

However, since I liked the Wality nib a LOT, I did the reverse surgery.  Put the Wality nib in a Sheaffer Javelin, and it works amazingly well with NO LEAK.  All is not lost.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
