Quick qn: What is the difference between new and old styles of 69TL ? They look same to me.

They changed the cap band design. Maybe it's not obvious from the pics but the difference is quite stark in hand.

Best,

Hari

The cap band and a minor difference in the machining of the end of the section.

I like the blue/orange acrylic. You couldn't really find a more violent colour-clash. My 69A is blue/white & currently has a 'OEM' Kanwrite 2-tone nib.

I haven't got a Wality that was issued with a Medium nib.

As the Wality Fine-tipped nib is rather variable in smoothness & often needs the 'mesh, does the medium nib have the same spotty quality control?

The Wality nibs are apparently made by Kanwrite.

I was told that the piston-fill Wality 69 was not so successful. If that is true what is the problem?

Is the feed of the 69P made of ebonite?

I thought Wality made their own nibs. Are the Wality nibs made by Kanwrite?

I love the colors on the 69A. I have several but none in that combination.

Every 69A is unique, they have now made it in several colors. This pen I bought in 2013 or so.

These are very nice and functional. I have a few and at least one is inked at any given time. I really enjoy the transparent barrels. The nibs usually need to be tuned a little bit, but I've never had anywhere near as much trouble with these as I have with some other pens, such as Noodler's. I wonder how Wality is faring these days. Thanks for the photos!

which medium nib do you ask about? All nibs in the pic are F?

I was sure that there have been Wality nibs in Medium point. They must be very rare, if they do exist?

I don't know if Airmail Pen Co has a Web site. I got the idea of a Medium nib tip choice from somewhere.

I use Kanwrite, genuine 'K' marked nibs. Obviously at the moment I am not able to get any.

Hari: I am seriously impressed by your example of the 69A. Definitely the most vivid example.

I have several of these with more ebonite colors. The pens just seem to be that perfect size for me. I would seriously like to run into some of the 69A pens I've seen around and the LGM is something I would order immediately. Useful information in these last few topics and I truly appreciate it.

the 69A has been made in a wide range of colours. Each box has 5 colors. And many colors are never repeated in the next lots.

Similarly the LGM has been made in 5 colors. Let me see if I can take a group pic over the weekend.

Are the Wality Nibs made by Kanwrite? Are the stock Wality nibs comparable to Kanwrite Fine or EF. I have ordered 69TL and waiting to receive them. I have heard some lukewarm responses about the wality nibs, so i was wondering if I should order Kanwrite Nibs too...

Here are some third party nibs friction fitted over the WALITY feed on the 69TL. The inner cap depth on this model varies from 19.5 to 20.5 mm. This is generally true for other models as well in the 69 family. So the exposed length of the nib has to be adjusted accordingly by inserting it deeper into the section.

The first nib is a 35mm Bock made Conklin nib in B, the second one is the stock nib, the third one is a KW 35mm nib in BB.

I located an old pic of the LGMs in another thread. Photo bucket has a banner on it but you can see the lovely marbled colors that Airmail managed to produce. https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/268619-oliver-karma-eyedropper/?do=findComment&comment=3029471

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
