I think you are right. I will be very cautious from now on ...

I do not think you can avoid being artistic, it is probably in your nature as we have seen for longtime, but I wonder: What is the problem with being artistic ?

Hello:

Artist or not, your photos are illustrative and clear as the images of a good documentary. That's a form of beauty, whether it's artistic or not.
Thank you very much for the explanations about how to take pictures.

Regards.

ok, I damit defeat, you won...

but for now something different:

On german penexchange.de a member had the idea to create a virtual Pelikan-Hub instead of all the Hubs that could not be held. Some other member jumped in (including myself) and the result is a nice photo gallery. Have a look yourself. It's fun:

I hadn't much time this evening, that's why I did prepare some pictures in the week before to contribute. Here's the link to the Flickr album with my special Pelikan-Hub 2020 photos: https://www.flickr.com/gp/30169694@N08/dV4Y2u

It took me some time to find out that I also wanted the LAMY Safari SE from 2019 for my collection. So when I wanted to order them, I learned that the availability was already limited. With some luck and the help of a local store I was able to buy all three colors for regular prices. Next time, I will not hesitate to order immediately. Of course I took some pictures when they arrived...

Christof, I am enjoying learning about your photo interest. I remember being very excited to get a Rollei 35S back in the 1970s. Great little camera that I used until I lost it. The only problem with mine was that it tended to leave fine horizontal scratches in the emulsion. Does yours?

I am ashamed to say that today, although I have my setups for 35 mm (Leica) and 8 x 10 (Sinar), I have become very lazy about the dark room and have gone fully into medium format digital. Without analog printing, the "art" is much less, but I don't enjoy the processing part of photography. I spent many years developing sheet film, most of it radiographic, and that turned the whole dark room experience into work.

I have not used my Rollei for a quite long time. I got this camera from my uncle when I was 18. But I still used it when I already had my Nikon FM2 for the most photo jobs. The Rollei was always with me, charged with a B&W film to make some "different" photos from time to time. I have not recognised any scratches on the film as fas as I remember.

Now that my uncle has long gone, the Rollei is a sentimental memory and will stay with me as long as I am.

Thank you so much, christof, for sharing your techniques and photos. I also have an interest in photography, although mine is mostly landscape. But, recently, because I have not been able to hike with my photographic equipment, I have gotten into pen photography. I have done a lot of focus stacking with landscapes, but not with pens. So, I will now have to set up and give it a try. Thank you again!
