Japanese Royal Blues ?

I think Sailor Ink Studio 443 , 743 , and 843 may be considered in the Royal Blue Family .

Any other Japanese inks to consider for a Royal Blue ?

Sailor basic blue is also a kind of. Several Kobe inks belong to this category too.

Seeking a Parker Duofold Centennial cap top medallion/cover/decal.
My Mosaic Black Centennial MK2 lost it (used to have silver color decal).

Preferably MK2. MK3 or MK1 is also OK as long as it fits.
Preferably EU.

This made me think that I'm not certain what Royal Blue is. I used to be, but after hanging out on FPN I'm not so sure. So I consulted wikipedia and discovered that I'm right to be confused.

Nevertheless, if I was king then the royal household would use Iroshizuku Asa Gao.

I share @XYZZY 's confusion and I don't think there is a reliable way to identify Royal Blue (as there is with the very close Cobalt Blue which is an actual chemical pigment) but there is this color identification survey (which has some pretty hilarious results): https://blog.xkcd.com/2010/05/03/color-survey-results/comment-page-1/  Averaging the opinions, it identified Royal Blue as RGB(5, 4, 170). Here's Google's rendition of RGB(5, 4, 170): https://www.google.com/search?q=rgb+5+4+170

As for an answer to the original question: I have no idea. 😆

I have other inks in the same general color palette I like a bit better, but Asa-Gao is probably in my top 5 favorite blue inks(and I have more blue than any reasonable person should have...I think 26 or 27 at my last count).

I happen to love that color, and I think of royal blue as very purple leaning, but dang, that really looks like purple to me.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Of course, now that I look at it, Diamine Royal Blue is darn purple too.

@HalloweenHJB for this comparison.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
