Strange Parker Duofold Senior With Odd Imprint

Recommended Posts

Hello all! I recently won a Parker Duofold Senior (the Big Red) online and I just received it in the mail. The pen is in wonderful condition, but the imprint is so strange. There is no Parker imprint, but rather just COMPLIMENTS OF FALLS GARAGE INC. and an offset D to the right of it. I have no idea what to make of it, and I can find nothing online. The rest of the pen looks great, so Im stumped. Is it a gift? Loaner pen? Maybe a bootleg Duofold? Ive attached pictures, so let me know if you know anything about this pen! Maybe we can figure something out.

I would say the imprint was for the business FALLS GARAGE INC. for their customers. To say thanks for their business? I would say that is a pen that I would call a keeper.

Any Duofold Senior collector would pay a pretty penny to add that pen to there collection. I my self collect Jotters with advertising on them. Just the last two weeks I picked up two Jotter salesman pens with interesting imprints on them. I have one green P21 that has the following hot stamp on it.

BILL DAWSON CIRC. SUPV.

THE DENVER POST MARCH '59 QUOTA

DLY. 21,875 SUN 28,700

I would say to you keep the pen.

I almost bid on this pen, but passed as I already have 2. I think you got a great deal!

Congrats!

Thats what I figured as well. It wouldve been one hell of a compliment gift at the time! The only thing that strikes me as weird is the lack of the original Parker imprint. Ive taken a loupe to it and there is 0 trace of the Duofold imprint. So maybe this business made a special order? In either case, I had no intentions of selling it, so itll be a special oddity in my collection.

The printing matches Parker's standard printing and everything else is correct, so,likely real.

And in regard to it being perceived as an extravagant gift, maybe. My grandfather told me about the "gifts" he received that would have been contemporaneous to that period. I have the pens, and it includes a gold filled Parker Lucky curve.

(Some would have called them bribes.)

Wow nice find! Hard to imagine a garage giving away such a nice pen, usually see service awards and such but not businesses giving away Duofolds! Definately a keeper!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
