Index Card Desk Holder

OK - I give up. Have been searching the net for a desktop index card holder. I am using them heaps more than I have in the past since I discovered Nock Co cards. My needs are simple, I thought.

I am looking for a desk exec style stand that holds blank cards. Can be on their side or shorter edge. Doesn't need to have anything else like a pen holder or nameplate. There are plenty of options for business card holders but I cannot find anything for index cards.

Anyone know of an option?

Thank you - Levenger was my first port of call. Don’t have them. Plenty of options with other add ons like pen stands but nothing just to hold cards.

I suppose someone can make one but I thought these would be a common item off the shelf.

Thanks for the suggestions - the Levenger options have more than space for cards. I was hoping to get a stand that holds cards only, preferrably portrait. The Amazon option could work but not available..

What size index cards do you use? 3x5? 4x6? Metric?

If 4x6, look for a plain wooden recipe card box and remove the lid (or cut the box down to your preferred height).

You’re right. This is way harder than it should be.

Yes - thought the most difficult part would be deciding between all the choices rather than having no choices.

Have you considered a recipe box? I haven't been able to find one that isn't plastic or cheap looking, but one might exist out there that looks good and does the job.

If you're into antiques, a card catalogue cabinet from a library could be a cool conversation piece. That is, if you have the room for one.

Levenger used to have a small desktop box that fit 3x5 cards. It was clad in black or tan leather. It's pictured in this blog post. They don't seem to have it anymore. Too bad.

If you like wood, this one could work.

Thanks Conan - but I want smallest possible footprint so the cards should stand portrait style. Plenty of boxes around that would be adaptable but too large a footprint. What I need is so simple - maybe I need to talk to a woodworker or leather person to have something made. I suspect what I may find one day that is suitable probably was created for a different purpose. The search continues.

I'm not sure what you mean or require by "exec style".

The clear lids on these DAISO display boxes, when used upside down, should be able to hold 3"x5" index cards comfortably without being unduly roomy width-wise.

Of course, being clear plastic, I think they would be far from "exec style" sitting on top of an executive's desk.

Levenger does have a bamboo box that can be used to hold note cards and pens.

I have one. It's got a pretty small footprint.

Something like this?

Square-PU-Leather-Pen-Pencil-Holder-Desk

https://www.aliexpress.com/i/1940611663.html

Size:8.7*8.7*12cm(L*W*H)

So it should accommodate cards that are 3" (7.62cm) wide, while still allowing 5" (12.7cm) tall cards to stand taller than the rim.

Or this: https://www.amazon.com/Leather-Pen-and-Pencil-Holder/dp/B001M3ZM9S/

but it might be a hair too narrow.

Alas, this plain-looking AmazonBasics one is currently out of stock:

The pic is heading in the right direction. I have a couple of those from Officeworks for pens, paper knives etc. Close, but no cigar. I have one of these so will give it a go when I get home.

Let me try and describe my perfect holder. Imagine a pack of 5x3 cards and stand them on the 3” end. All I want is a holder that would enwrap them in a leather style of finish, stained wood or nice plastic. Maybe a slightly larger foot so it doesn’t tip. Maybe a half moon style cut out at the top so it is easy to take up a card. Simple. Wish I could draw as I can see it in my mind. No pen holder or anything else - just 50 to 100 blank cards.
