Is there any valid coupon you guys can share?

There's a King's Day 2021 discount code in play right now.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

What's the code? I can't brute force it, KONINGSDAG2021 doesn't work, neither in the .com web nor the .nl site

  1. The promotion code was KINGSDAY2021.
  2. The code was posted on the web site, and not just communicated by newsletter; I checked. That's why there was no need for me to explicitly give the code here.
  3. The code expired at the end of King's Day, 27th April.

Sounds about right. Two pens in my collection could be stored in a nice pen case, but material plus finish can make them expensive without a discount. Eh, plenty of fish pen cases out there.

Well, that was a fast sale

The most recent two rounds of site-wide discount by code have only lasted a relatively short time, compared to past campaigns in the same vein: SPRING2021 lasted two-and-a-bit days, and KINGSDAY2021 lasted one-and-a-bit days. I say ‘and-a-bit’, because the newsletters alerting subscribers to the code seemed to be sent at 7PM in the Netherlands.

As a customer, consumer and observer, personally I don't mind that discount campaigns are short, thus promoting a ”you snooze, you lose” mentality in the subset of fellow consumers who refuse to pay retail price for just about anything if at all avoidable. Nothing wrong with the ‘advantage’ of a lower price coming at a personal ‘cost’ or trade-off of having to keep a watchful eye as well as ready budget, to combat potential pangs of becoming aware of ‘lost opportunities’ (to which not everyone is equally susceptible) subsequently.

@A Smug Dillcouldn't have worded it any better. I guess this is the "fear of missing out" trick for hobbyists. Not bad, any pen collection can last for quite a while before feeling bored :D

It doesn't happen that much with fountain pens, but people who collect action figures seem to be boucing in and out of it. We can consider ourselves lucky that most pens don't have a preorder season half a year in advance (plus tip) just to look at pretty things. Or ordering for just a day for a lottery ticket, then being able to buy IF you win. Discounts can be as stealthy.

Always looking for new ways to downsize my collection.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
