Sorry for the test, learning how to add images. But...here's a logo for a college I SHOULD have attended...the Southern New Hampshire Fightin' Penmen. Looks like my kind of school.

Boy, and here I though MY college teams were cool -- UB had the Purple Knights (which meant that during Parents' Weekend, someone got to dress up in white (knitted) armor with a purple velvet cape and sit on a white horse on University Avenue all week (and no, I never got to be that person... :().

ETA: So, were you testing how to use Upload or doing something else? I've found that the nice thing about the Upload feature is that clicking the button opens a new tab, so it's easy to go back and forth between that and the page where you want to be posting the image(s) to in a post. Plus, the only restriction seems to be on the size (1 or 2 MB maximum) and the type of format (I have to remember "no pdf files" occasionally). There isn't the issues that people using Photobucket had a few years ago when Photobucket basically wouldn't let them post their OWN photos anywhere else); and there isn't a maximum number of images you can post. It's just a matter of attaching the image and then copying and pasting one of the automatically generated URLs into the post. I mean if *I* (who is not the most tech savvy person around) can do it, anyone can.... ;)

I grew up in Santa Cruz...the University wasn't the ENTIRE reason we left :D

San Jose State Spartans didn't have NEAR the cachet that SNHU has.

Yes, it's for real.

Oh yeah, their mascot is actually famous, as being picked by the student body (who didn't take the idea of a school mascot all that seriously, apparently, so they had fun with it).

Of course probably the best team name I ever ran across was a team that my high school's football team played: Sleepy Hollow High School, halfway across the county from mine. SH's team? Yeah, you guessed it -- they were the Headless Horsemen... (although I always thought that orange and black would have made for better colors than the red and black they actually had).

Our team, the Hornets, had green and gold. I've hated that color combination for decades... Which is why I like my college colors SOOOO much better... purple and white.

I forget what my husband's alma-mater's colors officially were. But effectively, it was the Carnegie tartan. Pretty sure that's what the Kiltie Band's kilts were -- Carnegie plaid. We sat next to them at a game one time when my brother-in-law and his wife were in town for a class reunion, (since he ALSO had gone to CMU) and his class got to sit on the 50 yard line -- right next to the band. And I discovered that the Band had better (and funnier) cheers than the cheerleaders did.

(Oh, and when you get a Masters degree or Doctorate? Your hood is ALSO lined with the Carnegie tartan; one former director of my choir has a master's and we went to his graduation party.... And there, proudly on display, was his Carnegie tartan-lined hood. Edged with the official dedicated color of music degrees everywhere.... PINK..... :P

Just curious, does anyone have any other innovative (imyo) mascot candidates? It would be interesting to see some alternatives from regular people rather than expensive marketing and PR companies.

I think there is a thread/file about how to upload images. You might want to check for it.The big thing (in my opinion) is to keep the image size small so that there can be more of them, more informaion as to what the item looks like.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
