Hello,

I signed up last year but I'm only starting to explore your site now. Writing with fountain pens gives me great joy, especially during sheltering in place. My favorite time of the day is the morning when I write in my journal with a different pen each day. I am also learning calligraphy. My favorite pen until I dropped it nib-down on my desk was the Visconti Rembrandt with a calligraphy nib. According to the store where I purchased the pen, Visconti has discontinued the calligraphy nib which would explain my fruitless Google search. I hope to get it repaired when Nibs.com or another repair place when they are open. I also hope to find a pen pal or two on your site.

Thank you for running such a comprehensive website for fountain pen people.

Stay safe,

Valerie

Welcome from the East Bay. If there is a SF pen show at the end of August you may find a new nib there.

If you want less blah, blah, blah and more pictures, follow me on Instagram!

Thank you. That was my plan before the virus. I doubt it will happen or, if it does, I will feel comfortable going. Another casualty!

Hi, Valerie!

Welcome to FPN!

If you can send your pen with the damaged nib off for repairs, there are very good nib technicians who are accepting repairs. (Accepting? I think they are hungry for business! )

Three I can recommend from personal experience who have relatively short turn around times are Linda Kennedy (indy-pen-dance dot com), Gena Salorino (customnibstudio dot com) and Dan Smith (nibsmith dot com). No affiliation, etc. John Mottishaw is superb, but his turn around time runs much longer. That is true of Michael Masuyama, as well. But, if you have a favorite ....

And, if you are into calligraphy, I hope you have discovered the Handwriting forums here. I am also an amateur calligraphy. I dabble in a variety of hands, but italic is my preferred style. I use italic handwriting for my everyday writing. What style(s) are you exploring?

David

Hello Valerie, I am also very new to this forum, and I love writing in my morning pages journal with different colors, and experimenting in my bullet journal with which inks look good together. As far as this forum goes, I need to spend some time exploring it. I do not know if I post something, and someone replies, if I would get an email saying they replied. Well, I guess with this shelter in place, I do have time to explore. But this website seems pretty huge!!! Carol (I am in the Bay Area too)

Welcome Valerie, and Carolee. This is a great site. Take it in small doses, since there is so much to read, and learn, and ask about. If you do a Google search on a topic and add "FPN" you will find an answer, or at least informed opinions, about almost anything.

As user JAR will say, once he ambles by, "Pull up a stump and set awhile".

In addition to the great nib specialists mentioned above, I have used JJ Lax, who, incidentally, is president of the Big Apple Pen Club:
